James Durward Fleming, 77, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at his home.
A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Durward Garland Fleming and Sarah Marie Rogers Fleming. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Creedmoor where he taught Sunday School and was a former Deacon. He retired from Granville County Schools as a coach and athletic director. Coach Fleming was inducted into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor by Dr. James Shelley and Rev. Clayton Sutton. Burial will be in Creedmoor Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of forty-five years, Betty Sutton Fleming of the home; sister, Sarah Fleming Rose of Cary; granddaughter, Jessica Fleming Tindal of Rock Hill, South Carolina; niece, Jennifer Katherine Rose of Cary. He was preceded in death by a son, John Durward Fleming.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:45 PM at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.
