Her Life
July 1, 2013

Mrs. Jane Farrar, age 82, passed away at her home on Monday, July 1, 2013. Jane was a member of Fredonia United Methodist Church and recently retired from her position as Director of the Lanett Senior Citizen Center. Her 34 year career with the city, and the opportunity it afforded her to help people, as well as, touch so many lives was one of her greatest joys.

She was born Friday, October 10, 1930, in Meriwether County Georgia to the late H.O. “Red” and Ada Kelley. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Irene, Pete, Charles, Eleanor, Elizabeth, and Sara Lee. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Abbott Farrar and her sons: Richard Kelley and wife Sharron of Lanett, Michael Lewis and wife Teresa of Niceville, FL and Joseph Abbott of West Palm Beach, FL. She also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her special pet “Lil Girl”.

Her family was her greatest accomplishment and she spent many hours attending events that her sons participated in over the years. Some of her most special were the 1985 state championship football season of Springwood School, coached by Kelley; the 1978 Drum Corps International Finals in Birmingham where Mike was a member of “The Spirit of Atlanta”; also, She and Richard were blessed by attending a 1998 performance of Handel’s Messiah conducted by Joseph in New Orleans.
