Her Life
August 25, 2010

As a young child, Janene had a flair for fashion, which helped develop her social skills. As a teenager, her flair for style blossomed along with her ability to relate and show compassion to others. As an adult, Janene’s sense of giving extended to everyone she met. She offered expert advice, support, and comfort to all she knew. Throughout the years, Janene also opened her home to others.

Janene was affectionately known by many titles: Daughter, Sister, Nene, Mommy, Big Momma, Auntie, Ms. Walker, Big Nani, and Khaos. As many of her titles were obvious, others came with a story. As Big Momma, she was more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews, she was second and third mom too many of her daughters’ friends. As Khaos, Janene was known for her unique ability to “direct bike traffic.” However, Mommy was her most important title. She has three daughters: LaNesha, Satin, and Tiara (Nesha the “Best Friend”, Satin the “Senior”, and TT the “Baby.”)

Janene faithfully attended her girls’ cheer, dance, basketball, and talent show competitions. She was well known by all of her daughters’ coaches; so much so, no matter how far away she sat, her daughters would always hear her voice above the coaches’ voices. She now has a granddaughter, Aija, who is her mini-me. Aija could not pronounce “Big Momma,” so she called her “Big Nani.” She has always been and will always be proud of these four girls.

Janene lived her life with many adventures. Her latest adventure was to join the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. She rose from Prospect to Social Club Director. The Buffalo Soldiers shared the same values as Janene, and they offered her a place to do all the things she loved, from traveling to helping others. She began to overcome her fear of mopeds by learning to ride motorcycles. Her life’s lessons would be to relax, enjoy life, and conquer your fears.

At 44 years old, Janene has contributed to the lives of countless individuals and families. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Janene has touched us all in many ways, and she will be remembered by the memories she left behind.
