This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Janet Oludumila. Born on August 19, 1938 and went to rest on November 14, 2020, giving us 82 wonderful years of life. We will remember her forever.

Mrs Janet Oyeladun Oludumila, Nee Ayoola, was born at Offa Kwara State to Prince and Princess Ayoola of the Ile Aje. Though she hails from Ipetumodu in Osun State, she had her primary school education at St Jude’s Primary School Lagos and proceeded thereafter to Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Ife. Janet was an outstanding student and her performance earned her a place at the Seventh Day Adventist School of Nursing Ile-Ife. She also undertook further education in Nursing and Midwifery in London.
On her return to Nigeria in 1965 she joined Seventh Day Adventist Hospital Ile-Ife as a Matron for two fantastic years, before making the bold move to establish Temidire Maternity Home in Ondo in 1967. She ran this sterling practice where she served the community for decades until 2016. To the glory of God she gained high recognition for her contribution to healthcare and impact in the community. Temidire became her second name.
She was married to Late Pa Emmanuel Adekunle Oludumila with many children, grand children and great-grandchildren from their union. Also close to her heart are her many non-biological children.
Janet was an absolute pillar in the family and in the communities she served. In Ipetumodu, she was the Erelu, and also the Yeyetolu Awemoye of Ondoland. She was a devoted member of her church, The Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Dearest Janet, with immense gratitude to God we your children, grand children, nephews, nieces and the entire family rise to call you blessed. Thank you so much for ALL you have done for us. We will forever remember you.
Rest in God’s perfect peace.
A woman of courage and a worthy Amazon.

TRIBUTE TO MUMMY
ERELU JANET OYELADUN OLUDUMILA

A woman of timber and calibre who bestrode her times.
As a seasoned British-trained midwife, you played an impressive role in maternal and child care in Ondo, delivering the babies of many from the cream of society and all other strata, at your Temidire Maternity Centre. This earned you such accolades and honour in society.

You were so principled, yet full humour. You were such an amazing dancer with unusual graceful dance steps, which you certainly passed to Laide. You lived a full life and were so richly blessed to enjoy your distinguished children, amongst whom is Olaide, our dearest Sister. We thank God for your grandchildren and great-grandson. What a privilege to have been so blessed. To God Almighty be all the glory.

May The Lord continue to richly bless your legacy; the entire family that you loved and touched, the community you served and all you have left behind. Amen and amen in the name of Jesus Christ!!!!

CELEBRATION OF A RARE GEM.
Mrs Janet Oyeladun Oludumila (Erelu Oba of Ipetumodu, Yeye Awemoye of Ondoland) - Nee Ayoola from Aaje Royal Compound, Ipetumodu.

We all fondly referred to you as Mummy (not just Auntie) in the family of Ayoola and outside the family - people respectfully referred to you as Mummy. That is a naked testimony to the genuine motherly and positive roles that you played in the lives of people, blessed to have known you. You were a “RARE GEM”. I could not but conclude that you were born unique. In the family, you sowed the seed of love, generosity, humility, hard work, sacrifice, compassion, discipline and empathy. You had no barrier as you spoke the truth to every ear around you. You will be remembered forever and missed for the frank, selfless and genuine leadership role that God blessed you to play in the family.
You will remain evergreen in our hearts for your dedication to the well-being of the family – building bridges and encouraging us to love one another and stand as one despite being frail in the past few years. We will continue to celebrate all the good virtues that your life represents.
You will be remembered for the discipline, good character, courage and ‘can-do attitude’ you instilled in us. “Remember the son of whom you are” – you always said. You will be proud that all of us as grown men and women today are doing well and right due to your sacrificial efforts.
You were a blessing till your dying days and beyond. As a grown man today, when people make positive comments about my manners, conducts and approach – I look back with kudos to you for the right way you have raised and impacted us. Reminiscing growing up under your umbrella in Ondo, Ife and Ipetumodu. We – all your children were proud and still proud to be children of “TEMIDIRE’ as you were fondly referred to as by people in Ondo town and its environs for your kindness, service to all and your indefatigability.
You will be greatly missed as you were loved and respected by the kings, chiefs and the people. I remember being in the car with you on several occasions in Ondo town and you having to drive slowly or stopped by people wanting to chat with you and express their gratitude for your generousity – kids so excited chanting ‘Temidire Temidire Temidire”… I remember a poorly and frail elderly woman covered in her faeces and urine, lying on the floor in the neighbourhood, surrounded by people with feasting eyes, laughing and jesting about her condition. You instinctively stopped and came out of your car, took the poor lady to her nearby house, cleaned and re-assured her before we proceeded on our journey. Your kindness for a total stranger wowed me. Little did you realised your act of kindness that day sowed a beautiful, selfless and compassionate seed in me. No wonder I found myself abroad today in the healthcare sector. Whenever I get asked why I want to nurse the vulnerable people; I am always pleased to share the invaluable inspiration you have been to me.
You have gone to rest Mummy – continue to rest in the Lord Mama oninu rere – we will continue to celebrate you, Omo Oba Aaje afarajapa ti Ilu ipetumodu.

Kehinde Adejumo - (Your Nephew) and on behalf of your sister - Oyedoyin.

From Late Joseph and Christie Dare’s children.
Toyin- I can only give thanks for Mummy Ondo as we fondly called her. My association with Mummy Ondo her spanned over 55 years. That is a lifetime. God be praised.
Mummy was an epitome of what a strong woman should be.
She excelled in men’s territory. Where they dominated she ruled. What a legacy!!
She was a great Women’s leader and she used to counsel us in our junior Dorcas years from 73 to 78 that we shouldn’t allow men to use us. She will talk about issues your own mother may not dare to touch.
She taught us chastity, purity and a lot more.
She was firm, kind hearted, generous, strict and loving. She was a great believer.
I still remember fondly how she and I picked up from where we left our chats 30 something years ago at her last visit to England. You wouldn’t know it’s been ages we sat down for such cheeky talks. I laughed till tears rolled down my eyes. Mummy was so down to earth. Age was no barrier to her, she’ll chat with me as if I was her contemporary and she blessed the Lord for the friendship and connection I still have with her daughter Olaide.
I said to her mummy -“ę change oooo. You are still that firm mother I have always known”.
There’s no dull moment with her. You will laugh and laugh when you were with mummy. You’ll forever be in my loving memory Mummy Ondo.
Dayo- She has lived a good life and will always be remembered for her loving care and accommodating nature to us whilst we were young. She was strict but with good intentions. That’s why she excelled where men dominated. God be praised for those fondest memories of the late 60's and early 70's. She was a devoted SDA whist at Ife and Ondo, no wonder she was the first AWM National Leader in Nigeria. She will be greatly missed.
Ropo- Mummy was a very nice and kind hearted woman. She loved the Lord and didn’t toy with anything connected to God.
House fellowships in her house I still remember with fond memories. Sleep on till resurrection morning.

Celebrating an Iconic Heroin
A noble and unforgettable daughter of Aaje Royal Family, Ipetumodu, Janet Oyeladun Oludumila (Nee Ayoola), Erelu Oba of Ipetumodu, was a dogged fighter for the cause of Aaje Family and the glory of Ipetumodu. A selfless and incurable giver, generous to a fault, nothing is too big for her to sacrifice for the wellbeing and interest of Aaje family. Up till her last hours, Erelu Oludumila remained dedicated to the cause of her family, giving, mending broken walls and building bridges; these are uncommon qualities that make her stand tall eternally.
Erelu Oludumila’s currency is love, duty, loyalty and sacrificial giving, among others. She will forever be remembered as a woman of character, effortless beauty, rare courage, uncommon strength and dogged enterprise. Obinrin takun-takun, arogun-ma-tidi, obinrin-bi-okunrin, Oyeladun-kan-Aaje-kan, a woman with purposeful swagger, a no-nonsense woman, a giant of a woman, large hearted, ramrod straight in every sense of the word, towering above everyone around, your family appreciates the values you espoused and the exemplary and purposeful life you lived.
Ka to rerin o digbo, ka to refon o dodan, ka to ri obinrin bi Oyeladun Oludumila, afi ki Olorun tikarare yan fun Ile Aaje ati Ipetumodu. Sun re o Mama Oninure.

Mummy Laide! I went to university with your daughter, my dear friend Laide Akintomide. On our floor in Moremi Hall we all watched you with admiration as you stopped by every two weeks or so. You were a first class feminist, believing in equal opportunities for women. You were always busy, purposeful, driven and a successful medical entrepreneur. Little did we know you were modelling for us lessons we would need later in life as women.

What a visionary health worker mummy was! The model she was advocating for 35 years ago is what we are now struggling to implement in our health systems!! She’s believed in prioritising health services for women and children. She served thousands of women, saving many lives. We got the impression in medical school that doctors are supreme. But you know what? We still cannot produce enough doctors to serve 200 million people. So we are back to what she taught all her life - use available health workers! That’s the current policy driving Primary Healthcare at federal and state levels.

Thank you ma for showing us what is possible. Rest well. Rest in peace. You have earned it.

Mama! How I wish you was born into the Oludumila dynasty as man and not we marrying you into the family. You're a woman of so many parts. You actually played a significant role during my dad's burial and this gives me the best memory of you mama. You're such a courageous woman who's vacuum can't be filled in a short time. I'm consoled by the fact that you lived! May the journey be tender and awesome with you mama. Rest on beloved.

I love you mummy. My mother’s favourite friend, “Janet, obinrin bi ọkunrin” my mom would say. And she is right. What a man can do, Mummy Oludumila could do better. She is the first woman in her age group that I saw sit behind the wheel and drive. Not just around town like my mother, mummy Oludumila would drive long distances from city to city. A woman well ahead of her time in many ways. Very generous, very down to earth. Anyone could relate to mummy like a sister. She never acted old. She had a keen sense of humour. She lived a life of GREAT impact and her legacy is forever. Hmn I guess we will all die one day if the Lord tarries. A pillar has gone to rest. An icon has left us. Adieu mummy. I know that you are sleeping in the Lord and I will see you on the resurrection morning by His grace. Amen.

How do we begin to put into words the diverse aspects of the life and person of Chief Erelu, Janet Oyeladun Oludumila who happened to mean so much to us and to many other people.
Scanning through what we know about Chief Erelu, I want to conclude that she could not have achieved that much without the good hands of the almighty God upon her life
So, I want to start by giving thanks to God almighty who formed her from the womb, found her and made her fit for His use.
LORD, we thank you and glorify your holy name for all the accomplishments you worked through our Aunty and mother, late Janet O. Oludumila, the Erelu Oba of Ipetumodu. LORD, We give you all the glory, and all the honour, and all the adoration.
Father of glory, we equally thank you for preserving the lives of all your children that you have blessed to outlived their mother
Thank you LORD, for watching over every member of every family to which our late Aunty and mother was connected
Accept our thanks LORD, for in Jesus mighty name I have prayed.
When we say anything good about a person on earth, we are primarily and actually celebrating the faithful works of God through that person's life.
For whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above (James 1:17)

No one is perfect in this world. From Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob down through the ages, no one is perfect. Since the fall of man in the garden of eden, it has become a very big challenge for everyone on this planet earth to do good, except as supported by the grace of God.
What we are therefore celebrating in her life, is the evidence of God's involvement in many of the achievement she made while on Earth
God created us in His image and fashioned us after His likeness; and we were very good, according to the scriptures, until the fall of man in the garden of Eden.
Sin entered the world and humanity began to live below God’s standard. Consequently, selfishness set in, oppression and wickedness of all kinds, creating inequality, injustices, and imbalance in the world.
Jesus came to set things right. He condemned and destroyed the works of the devil; selfishness, oppression, captivity, sickness and disease, wickedness, injustices, and inequalities etc.
Jesus focused His ministry on the poor, the broken hearted, the captives, and the vulnerable; defending them, enlightening them, raising up the poor out of the dust, lifting the needy out of the dung hill, and planting them among the princes and the princes of His people, and making them to inherit the throne of glory.
And simultaneously cutting down the excesses of the elites; the rich and the powerful in the society, the Pharisees, and encouraging them to give to the poor and the needy - thereby Bridging the gap between the rich and the poor, promoting equality among the people.
This is the example Jesus Christ set for people occupying leadership positions anywhere on earth.
This was the leadership ministry Jesus, committed to the saints and leaders in the society. And which chief Erelu Oludumila exemplified and demonstrated while on earth. She was compassionate, loving, and ready to lend a helping hand to the needy. And sometimes she would stretch herself to the limit to solve other people's problem
What thrills me and gives me joy about our late Aunty and mother, is the fact that, one can actually point to certain accomplishments in her life that could be said to be directly motivated by the holy Spirit. Something one will feel confident to say if God had not used this woman to do this or that, the story would have been different.
She had this grace of working in God’s timing to save situations that otherwise could have gone sour.

I personally called her, God-sent, an angel. .
Angels are ministering spirits, they occupy vessels and things to achieve God’s purpose on earth.
Angels work according to God’s command and timing.
They work with astounding precision, and perfection; they do not fail in their mission.
Angels excel in strength, doing the will of God, and hearkening unto the voice of His word. I strongly believe that an angel of God found Chief Janet Oludumila usable while she was alive on Earth.

When she returned to Nigeria from England in 1965, and she observed that some of the children of her siblings were not sent to school. She encouraged our parents to send us to school. And made herself available for necessary support. And so I started primary school in 1967 at the age of thirteen. (This was Divine) As I had already at this age started learning motorcycle mechanic at One Mr Pius’ workshop, at Isale-Aje, Ipetumodu.

In 1974, while I was in Origbo Community High school, Ipetumodu, I had serious stomach ulcer, and I was on a deathbed and in transit to another world, when she walked (as an angel) into the room where I was laid. She quickly reviewed my situation and concluded I must be taken to seventh day Adventist hospital, to undergo surgical operations.
Before we got to the hospital, I had already fallen unconscious. She and her husband used their influence at the hospital, and secured prompt attention, and I was revived, stabilized, and subsequently went through a successful surgical operation. That day, if she had arrived say, ten minutes late, the story would have been different. (This was Divine, it can only be attributed to God; God using human being to achieve His purpose on Earth)
Mummy l’Ondo, Mummy Erelu, Chief Mrs J O Oludumila. You were God sent, Angel-mother, The woman God found usable, an extraordinary Evangelist, Abiyamo, Momo ewe, Encourager, Helper, Motivator, selfless giver; what others could have accumulated as great wealth, you had sown into the lives of others, to lift them up; what a practical way to have lived a good Christian life.
It is very important that I should mention this, that through you, I got introduced to the Christian Faith. Even though the path I chose or found myself is somehow a tough one, but His presence and interventions always give me comfort. It is said that, "success is Knowing the LORD" if so, I must have been blessed and highly favored to have known Him. I am happy for this and I am blessed.
The purpose of life is to touch lives. You touched many lives, you put joy in the heart of many.
You were truly a gift from God to humanity.
We thank God for your life, and for creating you somehow special:
Energetic, truthful, courageous, Frank, assertive, industrious, dynamic, pragmatic and full of compassion
We thank God for using you to impart sacrificial love to others

Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, as we called you, it wasn’t just a title.
We didn’t call you Mummy for fun, you were indeed a true mother.
It was not only in your extended family, that you were known and called Mummy, even in the neighbourhood where you lived and practiced your profession, many families called you Mummy, because of the positive role you played within the community.
Having been opportuned to have lived with you in Ondo town, where you owned and operated a Maternity Home, one would almost pass the clinic as a non-for-profit organization. You would do a perfect job with the dexterity of an overseas-trained nurse, but charged very low, and when in many cases the patient could not afford the hospital charges, you would eventually allowed them to be discharged free
We can only give glory to the almighty God for giving you that much grace to have lived a very impact full, blessed, and fulfilled life.
We appreciate God for making you a wonderfully blessed woman of influence that He had endowed you to be
You were truly the greatest of all mothers and much treasured by all.
The sacrificial love you expressed and demonstrated, though, has its origin in God, it is no doubt in the dna of the family, as it was evident in our grandma, your mother, Omotolani and her siblings; which love, you met in the hands of your own senior brother, late Pa, Johnson Ayoola; and eventually you took that love to a higher level

The love that has its origin in God shall never die. It shall continue to grow and flow through the family from generation to generation
And all the wonderful things that God permitted you to accomplish, both for your biological children and others, while you were here on earth, will continue to be fruitful, multiply, waxing greater and greater and Will abide forever, in Jesus mighty name.

Sun re o, Omo Motolani, Omo olori ilu ajinni ile tiri baba mi, omo Olorigbo aribile, Omo Akinlabi kokooboto, omo Adeyeye Aaje Afarajapa bi alakatampo.
Sun re o.

Pele Bode, Laide and Seyi.
Mummy was indeed an Amazon! So glad I was able to join you all two years ago to mark this amazing woman's 80th Birthday. As she stood regal that day, glamorous and stately listening to all the beautiful things family and friends shared from their hearts with deserved pride and joy it was as if we would gather altogether again 10 years later to mark her 90th, she was so full of life. But God knows best.
Her lovely, powerful, devoted and caring person will remain with us always.
May she find peace in the bosom of the Lord. Amen

Mama! Your first visit to our house, you never sat down until my parents came to the living room. That kept me wondering if someone can be this humble. You always gave me good advices and always wanting to share your life experiences with me.She never found it hard going down memory lane and that beats my imagination, for someone of her age. Looking for a flawless person? Mama, was one person that was generous to a fault , never discriminated. She treated everyone equally. You really taught and showed me how to be humble, generous and loving. You left positive Impacts in the lives of people. The advices you gave to me are engraved in my heart .The few moments we shared together will forever be cherished and the memories will linger forever. Though, you are not here physically, your good legacies lives on. Uncle Seyi and Uncle Bode are replicating those good virtues , you imbibed in them. I Really do miss you. Rest on, till we meet to part no more.

Our Dear "Mummy Temidire" as all my siblings would normally referred to her is a second mum to us. I knew her all my life, not just as the best friend to my Dear mum Abegbe(Mama Rotimi) in Ondo but just as a part of our life and family. She was there with us every step of the way and there is just no word to describe what she meant to us and the loss. We will missed her forever, all the sweet memories of trips with her to Ipetumodu and Ife is so alive and fresh in memory and I will cherish them forever. I was so looking forward to seeing her when next am visiting but am so glad that I will be able to join others to celebrate her life.
A very kind, generous, selfless, strong and very loving woman. You will remain forever in my heart. Sleep well sweet "Mummy Temidire".
Your baby girl Bimbola.

Mama, it hurt when I missed your 80th birthday, I wanted to tell you how blessed I have been knowing your son who is my Boss. I wanted to thank you for instilling the great values I admire in him. I looked forward to meeting you , perhaps we could have sung some popular  Adventist hymns together.

I am not hurt this time about your glorious exit but thankful to God for the lives you touched and legacy you left behind in your community.

You ran your race well, Sleep well Mama .
