A Successful Man
“That man is a success –
who has lived well,
laughed often and loved much;
who has gained the respect of intelligent men
and the love of children;
who has filled his niche
and accomplished his task;
who leaves the world better
than he found it;
who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty
or failed to express it.;
who looked for the best in others
and gave the best he had.”

As We Look Back Dad
As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering …..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us …..
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We’re thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us.

           " A Tribute from your "Baby Girl"

In June, 1961, I attended my Father's funeral. I never in a million years expected to be burying my Dad at 50 years old. As cliche as it is though – I really do feel that it's not just the time you get with your parents..it’s the quality in that time. I am so blessed I was able to receive 9 amazing, quality filled years with my Dad. I had just turned 9 yrs. on June 6 of that same year.

My Mom was in and out of the hospital because of her heart condition. She could not attend the funeral services. It was a hard & difficulty time of my life for a 9 year old. Immediately, after burying my Dad; my best friend, Ora Deloris Perkins died from third degree burns. Her flannel gown was ignited by flames from a space heater.

You may see my glory but you do not know my story.
While Dad’s Funeral was an emotionally charged day, my older siblings & their spouses were there for me.

And for me? Go hug your Mom & Dad. Tell them you love them. Because time waits for no one. Today is a gift, yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery.
