Johns, Jeannette, 70, of Pleasantville, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Born in Philadelphia to Raymond and Angeline Gonzalez, Jeannette lived most of her life in Egg Harbor Township and Pleasantville. Throughout her career she worked as a medical assistant and retired from Drs. Pritz & Gray Eyecare.

Jeannette is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Andrew Berlin; brothers, Thomas, Raymond, James, Joseph; nieces, Christina, Vicki, Jamie, Jill; nephews Jason, Tylor, James; great-nieces; Mia, Sierra, Dakota; and great-nephew Matthew, Cyprus, Julian. Jeannette is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, and nephews, and always had a special relationship with Maureen. Jeannette will also be missed by her granddaughter, Shiloh, who lovingly called her “JaJa”.

Jeannette had a kind and loving heart. She was the matriarch of the family and loved all of the kids as if they were her own. Everyone loved going to Aunt Jeannette’s house where they watched movies, played games, ate cookies, and danced to the music of Uncle Andy. She always greeted you with, “Hey hon” and you could easily get wrapped up in conversation for hours, always leaving feeling more fulfilled than when you arrived. Jeannette hosted many family gatherings and her “pineapple pudding” was a must have! The house was always full of food, family, and music.

Jeannette’s happiest days were spent walking through the Pine Barrens with Andy and her beloved dogs. She loved the outdoors and was happiest in nature. She enjoyed camping and kayaking as well as traveling. Jeannette had knack for finding quaint little cabins in the woods to visit for weekend getaways. She was an avid reader and loved curling up on the couch with a new book. Jeannette loved listening to Andy play his guitar and was the muse of his musical writings. Jeannette’s life was an example of kindness, patience, and generosity and she will be missed dearly.

Per Jeannette’s wishes, there will not be a formal service but rather a Celebration of Life for family and friends at Fitzpatrick’s Deli & Steakhouse in Somers Point, NJ on 12/20/21 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donations to the Atlantic City Humane Society.

Words cannot describe how much Aunt Jeannette will be missed. She was the rock that held the family together for so many years. Our long talks and the advice she provided was invaluable. She was loving and kind. I am so grateful for the times we shared.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Jeannette in 2007 when I met her for the first time while visiting with Joseph. I was even more honored when I became her brother-in-law in November of 2015. It is true, Jeanette was always able to give a perspective of life circumstances while still respecting your personal point of view. She had some great advice based on wisdom and knowledge. I felt an immediate connection with her. In my heart she was family from the start. I always looked forward to visiting her when Joe and I traveled to see the family. Her home was always welcoming and warm. Her energy was set in her home and you felt a maternal love as soon as you stepped inside her door and were greeted with a warm, tight hug and her saying (just as this says) ““Hey” or sometimes “Hi” hun.”
My heart goes out to the family that I am so lucky to be a part of. Jeannette, you will be missed but something is telling me that I will see you again when I return to the true life of which we live. I love you and will always cherish our talks and time together. Rest in Peace my beautiful sister. You deserve this rest. You earned it. You are loved and forever will be. ❤️
