Jerry was my husband, a very sincere and devoted man. He was the epitome of a good father. In our immediate family, I was considered by our children ( Patrick and Liz) as the solemn, strict disciplinarian and their dad , (Jerry) ,was the fun, quiet parent; however, we both knew that they loved both of us the same. Jerry, very seldom raised his voice when disciplining our children. When he needed to discipline them, he would talk to them in his quiet and peaceful way and they knew to get their acts together. He loved his children and there was nothing that he would not do for his family. He involved both of his children in activities that would help to develop them religiously, educationally, physically.socially and emotionally. When he was not at work, he was usually present to support them in their extra curricular activities.
He loved his grandchildren and they idolized him. They were 2 years old and 4 years old when he died. They believed that there was nothing that "Grandfather" couldn't do and that he was the sole owner of our cars, house, yard , etc.. I, his wife, owned absolutely nothing, (Smile). They ask often, " When is Grandfather coming home?". It is difficult to explain to them that he will not be returning to this earthly home , but we tell them that he is happy with God in heaven. I am sure that they will understand, when they get older.
My parents, brother, sisters and all my nieces and nephews, considered Jerry as a very special person of our family. He was #1 with them, and they all loved him. you would think he was the biological relative to them, and not me, ( Do you detect a sign of jealousy in this statement ?- Smile). To all of us, Jerry Woodrow Ford was our good friend and the family members who are still alive, will miss him very much.
Love and Kisses until we meet again Jerry!
