His Life

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, Mr. Jimmy Roger Fears’ sweet soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to an eternal place of rest. Jimmy was born January 9, 1944 in Lanett, AL to the late Miranda Fears and Jim Sanders.

Jimmy accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was faithful member until his health declined.

He was a member of the 1962 graduating class of Lanier High School. Jimmy excelled academically and was one of Laniers stand out football players. He was an employee of West Point Produce and West Point Pepperell Industry.

His hobbies were cooking, reading and watching sports. Jimmy was known for his friendly, outgoing personality and his love for all those around him. Whenever you heard the name “Jimmy Roger" you could rest assure that someone had a funny story to tell. He was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his siblings; Mary Emma Fears, Louise Booker, Henry Harrington Fears, Robert Hurston Fears, Cornelius Fears, Sally Fears, Williams Fears, Mary Pearl Sanders and Willie Eva Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter, Bernadette (Terry) Gates, Covington, GA; one son, Aqueveious Lavakious Fears, West Point, GA; two sisters, Shirley Fears, Brooklyn, NY; Gladys Wright, Lanett, AL; five grandchildren, ToShiro, Zachaous, Zoe, Akadynce and Azion; special nieces, Shonda Bailey and Virginia Floyd; special nephew, James Floyd, Michael Floyd and a host of other special nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
