I knew Jimmy from parkway, he was a person that I admired. He was a leader that was somewhat godlike to me. I liked when I got to see or hear him, there was always good and truth that came from Jimmy. He was smart, forgiving, honest, and bold. He commanded a sense of power and frankness that was always authentic and well intentioned. Groscup saw all instances of time as an opportunity to live and to help others. He improved the fait and fate of others, and he offered support and guidance to anyone. I was not a close friend to Jimmy, however he still shared many of his personal thoughts and experiences with me - simple personal things like his student loan repayment and the time that his apartment was robbed. He once providing me with a copy of a Billy Joel concert that he had recorded.

Dear Jimmy, Miss you on the anniversary of your passing. I bought a piece of music in your memory. The choir will be singing it Sunday. It is called "Shine a Little Light in the World." It is what you did always. Your light shone everywhere you were. You were a beacon of hope and joy in a sometimes sad and lonely world. I will always miss you.

I'll never forget going over to Jim's house to jam and listen to records when I was in high school. He was extremely generous and a great influence on me at a young age. He loved music so much. I feel fortunate to have known him.

Jim taught me how to use Finale. It was Performer and Composer at the time. I will never be able to thank him enough for his help with my music projects. I want him back, but I know that isn't possible. I miss you, baby brother. I love you forever.

First, I would like to say a big Thank You to Al Perry for making this website so i will always have a place to go back to. Ok, Jim was brought into my life when I was 8 clearly it was meant to be from the start. My relationship with Jim is unbreakable. He became my best friend/pal. He changed my life, and shaped me into the person I am today. I have no idea what my personality would be

like if it wasnt for him. He was the funniest person, and best cook I have ever known. He taught me how to drive, never missed a softball game, and played playstation with me for hours when I was a kid. The pain I feel everyday that he's not around to make me laugh, talk to, or ask him how I looked everyday (which is something I made him do lol). You can rest easy now Baloo...I LOVE YOU

On July 18th, we lost a friend, husband, father, brother, son and valuable member of the local music community. Jim Groscup was a gentle giant…a big guy with an even bigger heart, who treated his friends as family and loved his animals just as generously. Peace, Brother.
