It’s Sunday morning and watching the LPGA from my home in Abiquiu, NM. I’ve been reminiscing about my 12 years in Hawaii, 72-83. Was wondering about old brahs from the day and decided to google some names. First was a best friend Jim “the dog” Sands a teammate on Healani canoe and soccer clubs. He was recently killed crossing a highway in Eva beach. Next, I googled Joe Kennedy who was a great friend and neighbor in Manoa Valley, who I last saw back in the late 80’s when he visited me in Eldora, Colorado. I hadn’t been in contact with Joe for some time. The last time would have been after the publication of his book on Samoa, which I had eagerly purchased. Probably, the times I remember most were playing slide hockey with Tom K at Joes place in Manoa and drinking beer at the Rhino bar with Donnie A and at Anna Bananas. It is very sad for me to know Joe is gone, but, glad to know that he had such an impact on so many others like myself.
