I Will Hang On To These...

February 10, 2019

Chief Ogichukwuburuzor, My Dad, my Hero, my Coach, you have the medicine to a lot of illnesses. You were respected for your positive optimistic nature and integrity, we all loved your sense of humour, I  would tease you to choose my soup over Mumsie's and how you would laugh and tell me my plans won’t work, “you want my wife to stop giving me food eehn"; how we laughed over everything.

I will never forget the day you said to me, “it’s your turn to buy textbooks, so be ready" Baba, you got tired too early, just when we were only starting to buy the textbooks you left, I'm keeping you in my mind. I really wish you stayed a little longer, how will I ever forget you? For the reason that you filled that space that no one could fill.

Growing up as your daughter, I felt back then you were too strict, but as I grew older I could not help loving you more. You were never tired of telling me how proud you were of me, you would say “I raised a lioness, a warrior, a  fighter”, these words always motivated me to do more, because, “I want to make my father proud”, I would always say to myself, “I know where I'm coming from”. I can say it anywhere I am blessed to be your daughter!

Dad, you were always there to talk me through the stormy times, "emu egbu ihian" you would say.

You named GMD "Egbule", you would go further to say "onu we'gi kpor iyi, ke we gi hian"… Who will speak to me now in your voice?

My prayerful Dad, our phone conversations always began with your blessing and ends with your blessing, you were never tired of blessing your children and people around you.

I always looked up to you for advice or your opinion on how to triumph over certain challenges in life. Your advise was always spot on!

I will miss chatting and gisting with you, I will miss your adages.

In your life time, you impacted many lives, today, I have uncles and aunties who are not blood related, but your words of wisdom paved a way for.

You always said that attitude was everything, you said to be hardworking and diligent in life was the best for success. I am doing my best Baba, I am motivated knowing your legacy lives on...

Peaceful and peace loving, you always wanted people to leave in harmony, I remember you said you promised your father that you will take care of your siblings, which you did. Your father should be very proud of you. let me reassure you Baba that I will keep my promises to you too.

I thank God for the memories I will hang on to, I will savour them deeply. Rest on Baba, I hear everything is perfect there, just as you like it.

I miss you…I love you…I will always miss you Baba’m!
