Mr. John E. Lakes better known as Jake, age 73, was born on April 21, 1940 to the late Miss Arie Woodruff and Mr. Gilbert Lakes in Hogansville, Georgia. He was received in Heaven by the Lord on June 22, 2013.

He attended public school at West End High School. John later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked for the Atlanta Gas Light Company until he retired. He later married Mrs. Evelyn Echols.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Echols Lakes, four brothers and three sisters.

John leaves to cherish his memories: four siblings, Irene (Bobby Joe)
King, Lola (Leon) Porter, Larry (Geraldine) Lakes and Mattie Lakes;
five nieces, Ingrid (Ronald) Page, Jennifer King, Maurya Porter,
Michelle (Willie) Glanton and Cicely (Jeffery) Edmondson; three
nephews, Leon F. (Michelle) Porter, Demetrius King and Larry D.
(Phylicia) Lakes; fourteen great nieces and nephews, Nicole Porter,
Tiera Page, Shakeria (Darrell) Parks, Brashiek Porter, Akeya Lakes,
Jania Smith, Shanteria Glanton, Melody Page, Justin Porter, Jakiya
Edmondson, Jordan Wallace, D’reco Deshun Lakes and Larry
Deshun Lakes, Jr.; one great-great nephew, Jayden Parks and host of
other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
