His Life

A GOOD MAN

February 2, 2014

John Harvey had achieved so much in his 80 years on this earth.  He served in the Air Force and fought for his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.  When he retired from the military he went to college and began to write for several local newspapers.  The career he most enjoyed though was his position as aide to Senator Martin Auer.  John was a "caring republican" who believed in following the party line.  John campained for many candidates and recruited his family members to help out.  John also volunteered for the Onondaga County library and was a active board member for many years.

Everyone who knew John would tell you he was a good man.  Know one knew that better than his family. Married twice, John had a total of ten children and fifteen grandchildren.   John spent every free moment with family attending soccer, hockey, football, baseball, swimming, lacrosse, chorus, plays and horseback riding shows.  John went to every graduation and never missed a birthday.  Every holiday was a celebration with too much food, sweets, flowers and gifts.

If you asked John about his life he might tell you stories about his time in the military but if you asked him what he was most proud of he would tell you stories about his children and grandchildren.  As a matter of fact you couldn't stop him from talking about them.  This included the several cats who found their way into his home and heart over the years.

My sisters Margie,Monica, Michelle and Mindy and my brother Mike are thankful for the good man who came into our lives and who forever will be our example of strength and kindness.

So long for now, we love you and will miss you everyday.
