Mr. John W. "Jack" Harford, 88, of Waynesboro, PA, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital.  Born September 19, 1927 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Feeser) Harford.  He lived his early life in the Waynesboro area.  He graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1945.  He later attended Penn State University and graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education in 1952.  He received his Master's Degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1972.  Mr. Harford served with the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the European Theater.  He and his wife of over 64 years, Anna V. (Vink) Harford, were married on December 23, 1950 in Waynesboro.  Mr. Harford worked for the Pennsville, NJ School District and Pennsville Memorial High School for over 30 years.  He retired in 1988.  During that time he served as the health and physical education department head, as a football coach, and was the longtime wrestling coach.  For his service as the wrestling coach, he was the recipient of the Lake Award and admitted to both the South Jersey Wrestling Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.  Mr. Harford also was one of the founders of the South Jersey Wrestling and Officials Association.  He was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trinity United Church of Christ, Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #731, all of Waynesboro.  He was also a board member of Hoffman Homes for many years.  Mr. Harford enjoyed fishing, golf, and watching football.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, John F. Harford and his wife, Ellen of Rochester, MN,
A. Elizabeth Harford of Buffalo, NY, and Susan V. Papouschek and her husband, Kent of Smithville, WV; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne Boan of Chandler, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jonathan C. Harman.  Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with full military honors provided by Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:  The Waynesboro YMCA, 810 E.
