Biography of Chief John Nwabueze Ajene

Chief John Nwabueze Ajene was born in Kano, where he completed his elementary education. He continued his secondary education in Onitsha and then proceeded to London and the United States of America (USA) for his university education. He was a Chartered Accountant by profession and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FACCA) United Kingdom. He gained the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Boston University USA and is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School USA.

 

Chief Ajene started his working career as a management consultant with firms of accountants in USA and Nigeria before working for Blue Chip companies. He rose to the position of General Manager and Group Financial Director of the First Aluminum Nigeria Plc. In 1993 he took early retirement and in 1994, in collaboration with a group of entrepreneurs, he incorporated a company called Chartered Aluminum Systems Limited. This company grew quickly and became a household name in the building products industry. It is worth noting that the company's factory site was established in Nnewichi Nnewi in 1994. This company is still in operation and is investing in the economic development of our rural communities.

 

Chief Ajene was active in the social, economic, political and developmental affairs of Nnewi Town. He was a member of a think tank that meets occasionally to deliberate on issues that impact the welfare of Nnewi Town. He participated in committees and activities of town unions, where he held important positions. He was involved in many philanthropic activities to help the less privileged in our society particularly in the area of employment generation and scholarships.

 

Chief Ajene was revered and respected and carried himself with dignity and panache. His tremendous contributions were recognized in his home town Nnewi, when he was honoured by Igwe .K. Orrizu with the chieftancy title of Eluo Nwoke Uno Nnewi.

 

Chief Ajene was happily married to Theresa Ugo Okeke Ajene and their marriage was blessed with four children – Chuka, Uchenna, Chinwe and Dalu, who are distinguished icons in their chosen fields. Chief Ajene was also a dotting grandfather to ten lovely grandchildren. Tobenna Osoroa, Zina, Kenechukwu, Solu,Abi, Chibundu,Kobi,Eze and Ifenna
