I lost my father over 17 years ago but you filled the void. You made me feel the love, warmth and care of a godly father. You called me "My son". Today, I look back, my Mentor is no more. How empty my life could be but for the grace of God.
Daddy, my consolation is that you are at home with God in Paradise.
Rest on till we meet again at the Master's Feet.
Fare thee well, Daddy.

HEAVEN'S GAIN
11 Corinth. 5:1-8.
"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born and a time to die' Eccl. 3:1-2a.

It was like a dream to me, up till now, I can't believe that it is a reality loosing such a wonderful personality.

There are 'Men' and there are 'MEN', Engr. Joseph John Etukudo, a RARE MAN among men. A man with a golden heart and a man of high ideas, who lived for his family, people and above all for his God.
His was a life of sacrifice, sacrificing not only his comfort but his necessities for the course he believed in.

Just like Apst. Paul said, I have fought a good fight, I have completed the race. Indeed you have successfully completed yours on earth by living an exemplary life of simplicity, tolerance, a man of peace, hardworking, gentle and full of wisdom.

How can I forget the part God used you to play in our life and Church. You single handedly initiated the purchase of our Church land, when you gave the very first cheque unsolicited for but by divine instruction, when we were using your facility - Roseboom. We are standing and impacting lives today because of your magnanimity. You were indeed a man that love God and His kingdom.

We never dreamt it would end so soon but I am confident in the Lord that on that glorious resurrection morning, we shall meet to part no more.

Quite shocking to be informed about your exit.
Limited space for enough eulogy....
Oh dear!!!

"Pumping Joe"! "Joe Texas"!
(Of Baker Packers(R). Baker Sand Control(R). Baker Hughes(R).

You worked very hard. You bulldozed through life. Warrior! You invested. You ploughed. You trained several, outside your nuclear fam and bloodline. You helped countless. You blessed families. You were a blessed man yourself. Above all, you served your God.

I pray you find rest in God's bosson. Well deserved. True definition of success, you were...

May the good Lord help your fam, kin and fold, give them the fortitude to pull through your transition, and enable them strength.

Safe journey, Uncle Joe....

Your demise came as a shock to us. No word could ever captured how loving and selfless you were. You contributed immensely to the building project of our school: ALPHA FOUNDATION NURSERY & PRIMARY SCHOOL, UYO. We shall surely miss you but we take solace in the Book of Life that give us hope not to sorrow as the unbelievers.
Obviously, true greatness is not found in possessions, power, position or prestige but it is discovered in goodness, humility in service and character: for these were your attributes.
Rest in perfect peace until we meet again.

A TRIBUTE TO A BROTHER AND FRIEND INDEED
Words fail me to express the shock I was in, when I arrived the counter of your hotel - Rosebom at Eket, the evening of Tuesday 3 March, 2021 and the news of your demise was broken to me.
I had come to keep our belated appointment of early last year, before the pandemic, which you told me to check on you anytime am in town at the hotel.
I was more shocked after your Dear wife and I met the next day, where she narrated the sequence of events few days before you passed into glory. How you had invited, assembled, celebrated and dined with members of your immediate family and your in-laws. You had prayed and blessed everyone, after giving them roles and responsibilities in your absence as if you knew your time on earth was limited.
Big Joe, as you were fondly called and addressed by your friends, in private, official and social circles has now left us so sudden.
You cut my first tooth in the Oil and Gas sector while you were holding forte in Baker Hughes at Port Harcourt, many years ago. You had introduced me to your expatriate colleagues and friends in the Oil Tools procurement. I thank you immensely for giving me that opportunity which has groomed me into a solid executive.
Big Joe, you have fought the good fight, finished the race, you have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness.
Rest in peace and may your gentle soul find repose in the bosom of the Lord, Amen!

My Dad, my Dad, thats selfish if I call you only to myself. That. I woke up this 2am to write you a tribute is what I never dreamt will come sudden. I rather call you Our Dad, the man who foretold his death and just made it look easy.
We remain the so many reasons you lived and now died for. Uncle, Mommy, Sister, Ami, Ani, Ini, mma Glo, Wealth, triple Joe Emma, grandies, cousins and so many host. My God. "Pardon me for not knowing how to write tribute to my Dad - this is my first.
Daddy-
1 You lived to show us Raw and undiluted love.
2 Your Commitment to purpose, execution and style was heavenly and foremostly, teaching us same, is memories we can't forget.
3 You prioritise togetherness over wealth, humanity over gain and collective goal over interest.
4 You believed in balance for every weigh even life and or rather cheat self for general peace and good.
5 You showed abundance to every goodness, promoted sincerity and guarded integrity with drops of hard sweat and even blood. That gave us a good name.
6 You taught us hard work and smartwork, the difference and the need to have passion for both.
7 You were so hospitable, made it your sole purpose - making others happy a business. I tell the world "None lacked food, shelter, health care around you".
8. You were a show of God's grace and a tabernacle of God's blessings. Your words all came true.
9. You lived a Joseph, died a David and will remembered as a John "the beloved".
10. You carried generational blessings like an Abraham, and transferred double to us like an Elijah. Left like Moses, I still hear the last prayer you prayed for us all.
Now, The shoe, the gap, the charisma, the carriage, the prize and the purpose- who can fit. I wonder. You did one thing wrong, forgive me to say you left in our loudest joy. Not even a proper bye you left with the Lord as you were told, you lived told and died told. You even told some of us but we didn't really understood. Daddy none of us was ready for this even with all the signs.
Now unready is this reality. We pray Only God will console us and keep you in his arms. After God's time and purpose lets see at the other side as God had planned.
The Touch is already lit and many are the hands that shall keep it lit as God's grace abound and as the Lord lives we promise.
Adieu Daddy

To my Father in love, a great, warm and caring man, a man who would say things as they are and yet one of the most caring men i have come across in my little sojourn, your passing is a thing i can't still come to terms with.

Yours is a life worth celebrating for your indeed impacted so many positively for the Kingdom and the earth is the better for your coming!

In memory of my Beloved Brother Joe

To God be the Glory.

What a “Glorious Exist” to be at home with your Heavenly Father.

Nevertheless I do miss you so much on this side.

You were a very good brother to me, kind and hard working - indeed an achiever.

The family will greatly miss your leadership...

Your kind remarks and words of encouragement to me every time will be difficult to forget because I will not forget you were my brother.

Each time I appreciated you for loving the Lord Jesus and for using your God-given gifts and talents to serve everyone with no discrimination, your response was always gracious and delightful:

“Thank you so much my dear sister.
God bless you.

For me to love Jesus,
there is no alternative. Uwa ayekemi
adika ibok ifoke. Adio tutu. Idolatry?
Everybody should run away from it.”

May the Good Lord help us all who knew you closely, indeed all men, to pay heed to your wise counsel - To run away from idolatry and learn to live every day with Jesus as you did.

Thank you for teaching us with your life.

Adieu my lovely loving dear brother.

There goes the Pillar, the Bridge Builder, the Shining Star, the Superman and the Man of God, as humble as Moses in the Bible.
That was Engineer Anietie Joseph John Etukudoh.
Truly, truly, Anietie nte Abasi?

I recall back in the day, when his late Eldest brother, Etukudoh (Gabriel), in his discussion about him, particularly his future, outstanding brilliance and talents said, “if Anietie were to be given the opportunity to come over to the United States of America, not even the sky would limit him.”
Well he didn’t even step into the US when he started displaying the talents the Almighty God deposited in him. His exceptional achievements are there for all to see.
His legacy lives on.
He was a big umbrella for the entire Mkpok Community and when his Father in heaven called him to be with him, he bowed out peacefully and gracefully.
Who are we to query God?
I still hear the echo of ‘My Sisterrr!!!!

DADDY, A QUINTESSENTIAL PATRIARCH
A quintessential and iconic patriarch, a father like no other - loving, caring, passionate worshipper and seer. A planner, organiser and tactful leader per excellence. Courageous, bold, fearless and intimidating in personality yet compassionate, philanthropic and graceful in disposition.

Daddy, you are a rare breed, made of stainer stuff. Focused, determined and self-motivated. Little wonder, you rose from insignificance to stardom and from grass to grace.

Grand Pa, words are not enough to comprehensively capture your very essence.
Notwithstanding, my comfort is in the fact that you lived your conviction, served the Lord and passed on peacefully, having blessed your dear children, in-laws and grandchildren.

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on

His Life

The Life and Times of J.J Etukudoh AKA JOE TEXAS

March 3, 2021
This is not Biography or autobiography.

Joseph John Etukudoh was Born on the 16th of April, 1946. A true definition of greatness, an embodiment of God's vision of changing life's, a pillar to many, a child of God par excellence. His love for God and others was the truly an expression of the scriptures which Says in Rom 5:5 "The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost who is given unto us".
He lived an exemplary life of faith, hope and love. As a young man he faced several adversities from such a young age; losing his own father at a tender age but against all odds he strived and made a success story out of his life. He journeyed from his comfort zone just like Abraham nit knowing exactly what kind of life he would have. He moved to Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Breaking and shattering all glass ceilings and limitations that he confronted. A proof that your background can never put your back on the ground. He worked as an Oil drilling Engineer Baker Hudges Limited, travelling around the world working on offshore oil rigs . His persistence and resilience even when he had little formal education caused him to rise within the ranks of the company earning him the name JOE TEXAS. Joseph John Etukudoh was a helper of men, a lifter during his time at the company he trained several younger engineers to do so much building a legacy after retirement..

What a Man?
A man who was fearless in face of death, in 2009 he battled several sicknesses, but he lived, he choose to live, after several factors. A man who said in my time of death "i won't disturb anybody, i will just go"  A faith man. A man of great discernment, the bible says a righteous man sees evil afar off and stays clear. This was Joe Texas, He could see trouble afar of and warn against it. A man who continuously lived an inspiring life of sponsoring the gospel, like the son of consolation Barnabas he supported the body of Christ and churches of Christ. He helped many , supported several church building projects and outreaches. He was also a philanthropic, he gave so much that his children wondered and ask "why help so much". The answer was that he knew differently, "GOD BLESSES YOU IN OTHER TO BLESS OTHERS".  Joe Texas was also innovator, constantly pushing himself, after conquering the engineering field. He decided what next. He went into the Hospitality Industry building and furnishing one of Eket's finest hotels; ROSEBOOM HOTELS AND RESORTS LIMITED.A fine establishment which is a home away from home.

A man of astute discipline, excellence and passion for his children and family. He married an amazing wife Mrs. Comfort Joseph Etukudoh who birthed 8 children. Training every single one of them to the highest levels of education. There is a saying that a success without a successor is a failure, Joseph John Etukudoh is a true success, a true definition of what it means to have lived a beautiful life. He inspired, molded a generation that would continously affect the world. Not forgetting to mention, He was preacher of the gospel. His voice could echo loud amongst many people, he inspired many to serve God in his time.

" A champion is not someone who wins a competition, rather a champion is someone who wins for others".

THANK YOU ENGR. JOSEPH JOHN ETUKUDOH FOR BEING OUR CHAMPION.

13 years ago the devil viciously attacked The Joe but at the hospital I told him that the devil contributed nothing while he was training his children and that God who was with him throughout the journey would not allow him to the exit the stage when “Canaan” was in sight. That he will live and be surrounded by his grand children and beyond by God’s Grace.
January 13, 2021 The Joe The Texas sent me a picture of him surrounded by his grandchildren from Lekki in Lagos. I thanked God for that moment and asked for more but did not know he probably was saying that The Lord had fulfilled him and he was exiting the stage. He slept few days later. Adieu great brother to eternal rest in the Bosom of The Lord. May God bless and continue to enlarge the territories of your family members in Jesus Name.

Uncle Joe: A work driver! A "results now" manager. If it's not done now, there's no slack, once we all know what has to be done!
"Let's go! The chopper is waiting"
You'd say...

I remember our project trips to Gabon and Angola. The Sand Control/Gravel Pack/Pumping crew on the floating semi submersible rig. I remember the rig ups at the Intel camp at the Luanda sea port! Oh dear!
Uncle Joe. What a man!

I remember well site trips, mostly offshores. The rigorous rig-ups, fluid mixes, thousands of barrels pumped, the rig-downs, the sleepless nights, the helicopter flights!
Uncle Joe. What a man!

Then you retired, hale and hearty, to run your hospitality business chain.

When in Eket, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria, I'd prefer to lodge in one of your hotels, opposite the Exxon Mobil airstrip.
I remember when I took my mom there to lodge, spend a few days from home,  just to see you. Oh dear!
Uncle Joe. What a man!

Inexhaustible!

The world is a stage, really.
You came, you played your part, you exited.

You'll be greatly missed, Uncle Joe.
What a man!

My the Good Lord be with your spirit and have mercy on you, as you start the eternal journey.

Godspeed...
Fare thee well...
'Till we meet again...
On resurrection day...

.."The dead in Christ will rise first..."

Our hope...
