The son of Mrs. Gloria N. Woods Morris of Columbus and the late Joseph Morris, Jr., Joseph was born in Copperas Cove, TX and was a 1998 graduate of the George Washington Carver High School.

Other than his mother, Joseph's memory will be forever present in the hearts of his devoted sisters, Ronda Thompson (Dell) and Sonja Smith; his brother, Adolphus "A.D." Smith, Jr.; a niece and nephew, Kaneisha Smith Johnson (Lance) and William "Will" Davis III; great nieces and nephew, Ka'Mya, Kamari and Kamoura; an aunt and uncle, Nora Walker (Ezell) and Richard Woods; other relatives and friends.
