“A TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER”
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:10, 25-28 .
"M" is for the million things she gave me, "O" means only that she's growing old, "T" is for the tears she shed to save me, "H" is for her heart of purest gold; "E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining, "R" means right, and right she'll always be, Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER", A word that means the world to me.
Mother, a word that means the world to me. A mother is a vessel that God has used and ordained to birth “purpose” into the kingdom of God. A lot of things are required of us as mothers. A mother nurtures her new born with love and care. She’s there for the feedings, the changing of diapers, for the embracing, the first steps, the weaning, the potty training, the smiles, the tears, the healing and the disciplining. A good mother many times has denied herself for the best interest of the child.
A mother’s job is never ending. From birth until death we are a part of our children’s lives. We are to love them, mentor them, lead them and guide them into healthy and nutritious living in Christ Jesus. Many obstacles rise along the way in raising children. We as mothers experience the heartaches of our children that stem from everyday living along with the pains that present themselves when our children are going contrary to the their upbringing by walking in a spirit of disobedience. A lot of times their “growing pains” affect us as a parent. We should always be honest with them about the reality of this world. However, through it all our position is to be there for them to continuously lead them and guide them into all truth with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When we are in doubt about a “how to” in mothering God is always there to instruct us in how to teach our children how to live and how to function from day to day. The Bible tells us in Psalm 105:19 that Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
On a more personal note, I was BLESSED to have had a wonderful mother, Mother Josephine Doretta Richardson- Harrell. She was a graceful woman. She was truly a mother to me! She was always easy to talk to. She bought us up fearing God and knowing his power, teaching that he could do anything but fail. She was a woman of God that was a nurturer to her children. When I think of the many words that I could use to describe her, one word that comes to mind is “COACH”. She ALWAYS gave me that PUSH I needed in my life. When I was a child she encouraged me to always do what was right. We had to go to church, IT WAS NOT AN OPTION!!! It was a way of life in our household. I can remember even now her ironing our clothes and getting our hair ribbons together for Sunday morning. We couldn’t go to the movies or play ball or anything of that nature on Sunday, “IT WAS THE LORD’S DAY.”
Even when I didn’t feel it, her faith that she had in God and in the ability that she sees in me to operate as more than a conqueror allowed me to run this race victoriously.
Thank you God for giving me the mother that was assigned to me, a virtuous woman who touched my life in so many ways and the lives of others.
MUCH LOVE "MOMA"
