Mama - as she was fondly called by all who knew her was indeed a true " Sweet Mama" ...Motherhood is a vocation and a gift from God ....indeed Mama was carefully selected by God for this vocation ...Mama was the most loving, humble, compassionate , understanding , family -orientated woman... And one of the most beautiful souls one would ever meet.. Aside from her own biological children, she enjoyed raising other people's children , from infancy to adulthood, supporting them physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. ....
She was a sweet Mama indeed and a rare gem.. Mama 's life fits the description of a "Virtuous woman " in Proverbs 31. She did not only take prudent measures herself but gave prudent advice to others.
Motherhood is a gift from God and a Vocation.. It is also a great honor and privilege to be a Mother , but also synonymous with selfless service.
God endowed Mama with the "Gifts of the Holy Spirit -Isaiah 11:2" granting her wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge and most importantly, the fear of The Lord. She spent her quiet time reading and studying the word of God.
I remember when I visited Mama in lagos in 2015, she was reading her bible without glasses.... What a miracle ...at that age to have such marvelous sight ..and memory too , because she knew exactly who I was...how amazing.... !
God also endowed Mama with the " Fruits of the Holy Spirit " - (Galatians 5: 22-23.) ..Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generosity and Faithfulness.
All these virtues prepared Mama for the task of Motherhood , making her a rare gem and a virtuous woman. Thus , equipped with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, she went forth to bear much fruit...
Not surprising that , she was privileged to live to see " three generations" of her children. When one stays firmly attached to Jesus - the Vine you bear much good fruits, fruits that will last. - John 15: 1-8
Indeed Mama lived an exemplary life , staying close to Jesus , the author and finisher of our life...and He bestowed her with these graces which enabled her perform her role and vocation as a Mother for the good of her family and the world.
Mama, is gone, but her memory and legacy shall forever be remembered.
Mama was so dynamic as a Mother who held her family together. Inspite of the early demise of her husband. She single- handedly raised her children and other peoples' children . amidst her trials and tribulations she stood strong and tall, trusting in the Lord as her only source of strength and consolation.
Three passages in the bible - Luke 11-17; Mark 3 :25 ; Matt 12:25; remind us that Jesus reiterates that " a family divided CANNOT stand " Generally, Success relies on congruency! Mama as a Christian , and follower of the Prince of Peace .. and an advocate of Peace, ensured Peace and unity among her children ..   ..." How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in Peace / Unity " ( psalm 133:1)
When Conflict enters a family, productivity and usefulness inevitably grinds to a halt." Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined and any house divided against itself will surely fall!
This was NOT the case for the Rogers Halliday Family who are united in LOVE and I can conveniently say that indeed Mama was a " Virtuous Woman " ....whose main attribute was " Love" .
Mama having served God faithfully can anything separate her from God's love ? Nothing can separate us or her from God's love.... Neither death nor life , neither angels nor demons...neither our fears for today or worries about tomorrow..Romans 8:35-38
So , let us be consoled that Mama has fought the good fight , she has finished her race , and has kept the faith . Therefore, now there is in store for Mama the CROWN of RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the righteous Judge our God Almighty will award her ... 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Mama we will miss you .... because we love you ... But God loves you more.
Mama, may your beautiful Soul rest in the bosom of Our Lord God Almighty. Amen.

Mama, as we affectionately called her is my oldest sister. She "UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED" her siblings (The Ikedionwu's) from Obosi, Anambra State, Nigeria. She was a wonderful sister in a trillion. Mama lived a very generous, peaceful and fulfilled life. My husband and children got to know her better when she visited us here in North Carolina with her youngest child Aina, and my other older sister, Ogbueshi Dolly Ejindu. Mama, was a fashionable/elegant lady. She always made sure that she matched her outfits. In fact, Mama had very good taste in everything. Mama, was a woman who out-did what any human being could have accomplished in his/her father's home. 2016 will be the first time in many years I will not speak with her on October 21st which is her birthday. "Ogbueshi" Joyce Oyiboka Rogers-Halliday "Nee Ikedionwu" was an amazing person, and I am so proud to call her "my darling sister". Mama, Rest In Peace. With All My Fondest Memories, Your Youngest Sibling, Tochukwu Ozodigwe "Nee Ikedionwu
