This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Katherine "Kathie" Adrienne Matteri, 61, of Santa Rosa, CA was called home in the early morning hours of February 11th 2021 after a long term battle with cancer. Kathie was known for her strength, love & devotion for her family & those qualities shined through to her final hours.
Kathie was born in Elizabeth, NJ on February 12th, 1959 to Ann Denison & Jon Thanos. Kathie has six brothers; Lenny, Jimmy, Jon, George, Peter & Butch Thanos. She loved each one of them dearly.
Kathie was known to many as a special lady with a heart of gold. Her selflessness, the unconditional love she had not only for her own children & grandchildren but the children & grandchildren she adopted in her beautiful heart & cherished. She left a lasting imprint on the hearts & lives of so many.
Kathie procedes in death by her mother Ann, father Jon, brother Jimmy and her first husband Russell Otten who is the father of her two boys.
Kathie is also survived by many. Kathie was married to her husband Tom Matteri for over 40 years, the love of her life and best friend. She was a loving, caring mother to her children Jeremiah Otten Sr, Justin Otten, Alisha Nicole & Jennifer Nicole Matteri, Marnie Cagampang and Shannon Matteri. The love Kathie had for her 20 plus grandchildren she would explain was "a love she couldn't put into words". She was wholeheartedly devoted to her grandchildren Jeremiah, Elizabeth, Adrienne, Garrett, Ella, Kadance, Ryder, Wyatt, Hayden & Bailey Otten, Blake Beristain, Marissa Shafer, Shelby Swaney, Dominick & Carlos Thomas, Grace & Gil Reyes Jr. John & Jaylee McClellan, Donavan Christmas, Melia & Benjamin Cagampang, Ashley, Brooke & Brain Smith. Each & everyone of her grandchildren brought her so much Joy & happiness.
Even on Kathie's most difficult days in her battle, she would light up with a visit or call from her "grandbabies" as she would say. She was especially rejuvenated by her long distance talks with her little granddaughter Bailey or as she referred, "my little Bailey". They had a special bond & their interactions would leave Kathie glowing despite the pain she was in for days. She talked about how Bailey would run around the house saying to her brothers & sister, "that's my grandma! That's my grandma" & it made her feel so special. She truly cherished the bonds she had with her grandchildren and loved each of them more than life itself.
Kathie will truly be missed & cherished by so many. Her essence lingers in the lives of those who were fortunate to know her.
Kathie said she wanted a party in remembering her life, no crying but everyone to have fun and party. To honor her wishes we would like to invite all who knew Kathie to join us for a Celebration Of Life in her honor at the Washoe House in Petaluma on Sunday April 18, 2021 at 3pm. This will be held outdoors and we will be following social distancing protocol for Sonoma County. There will be appetizers available for everyone and anyone that would like to order any other food and or alcohol beverages is more than welcome to do so at their own expense. We hope to see everyone!
Forever in our hearts!
