Kevin was born on July 17, 1990. His entrance into our life was a miracle- he even
spent the first 16 hours of his life in I.C.U.
Feb.1991 Kevin was admitted into the hospital with R.S.V. Grandma was holding Kevin
and in the elevator on the way up to the next floor, Kevin stopped breathing, grandma had
to start C.P.R. on him until help arrived. He was a happy baby and toddler.
Summer of 1994 Courtney, Krystal and Kevin or "mema's little clan" signed up for
swimming and dance classes at the summer recreation program. Kevin learned to tap
dance that summer. He loved to dance.
1996 While at day care one day Kevin's finger was almost cut off when he and another boy
were slapping the big metal doors shut. The plastic surgeon reattached his finger so well
that you couldn't even tell that it was almost cut off.
Kevin loved to play sports-baseball,basketball,football and track. He excelled in all of
these sports. He played PopWarner football 1998-2000.Basketball and track at school. He
started baseball 1998-2000. He was most proud of his All Star Game in 2004.
Kevin was also a Boy Scout, Troop 124. He attended Camp Geromino where he learned
many skills.
2003 Kevin suffered a seizure on his way to the first game of the season. He was rushed to
Phoenix baptist Hospital then transferred to Phoenix Children's Hospital. He was diagonised
with growing to fast for his heart. Hopefully, in time the small hole would heal.
Kevin loved Country and Western music. Parades were also a favorite of his. He would run
along the side of the Pinnacle Peak Restaurant float as they threw out pieces of steak. You
can't forget about Kevin and his drums. He played drums at Paseo Hills and Canyon grade
school. He loved to sing ,he would sing so much and so loud that the vein in his neck would
pop out.
Kevin loved to take apart and rebuild bicycles, One time he decided to make a 3wheeled
bike but he forgot to make it with only one chain. So with 2 chains that meant that both people
had to make sure that they both peddled at the same time. Kevin liked his "ghetto" bike as he
and Angie nicknamed it. To watch the two of them try to make this bike work was very funny but
with alot of patience and alot of work they both got it to work.
My favorite story is when Poppa was making grilled cheese sandwhiches-Kevin was asked if
he wanted a grilled cheese sandwhich and he replied No girl cheese-just a boy cheese. Kevin
especially loved Saturday mornings with Mema, they would clean out the refrigerator and all the
leftovers went into a large pot to simmer.Kevin would grab the tortillas and chow down.
Another favorite pasttime of Kevin's was to go to the Luke Air Force Base with Mema and watch
the jets fly over Northern ave., and lets not forget football. Kevin's sister Krystal was on the Cactus
High School Flagline and Kevin went to every football game. He would sit on the same row as Father
Bob and cheer the team on.
I will miss him and all the fun times we had.
Summer of 2004 Kevin was enrolled in the Peoria Fire Department class. 25 kids in his class and
only 3 of them-2 boys(one of them was Kevin) and 1 girl were successful at climbing the rope to the top
where they got to ring the bell. This was something that Kevin was very proud of.
Kevin loved his beads. He used them for every holiday.Kevin loved holidays especially Christmas
and the more lights to decorate with the better. He also liked to watch war movies with mema, and when
he was little he loved to watch the Power Rangers. He was just starting to learn of his Indian Hertiage.
Final thoughts: As I close this Tribute to Kevin let's not forget that 3 years ago Kevin saved his cousin
Tiffany from becoming another drowning victim only to be taken from us the same way. Mema would tell
Kevin Ugh, Ugh, Mosha-which means "I Love You" almost every night before going to bed.
From Mema: Ugh,Ugh,Mosha; Good Night Sweet Prince.
This Tribute was made by Mema to remember Kevin Lawrence McClure.
