Fr. Kurien was a man of faith, simplicity, humility and knowledge. He was an encyclopedia of Vatican II documents. His precise presentations on the foundations and participatory nature of Church were excellent and easy not only to understand the significance of the Catholic Church but to follow ever more deeply the teachings of the Church. He believed in a democratic process in the Church administration. I found in him an extraordinary moderator of common meetings. Kurien was an expert in resolving conflicting issues. Many church leaders sought his guidance and advice to settle matters. Definitely the Church in India would miss the physical presence of Kurien, however, his spirit, writings and speeches will continue to inspire and guide many, particularly, in India, most importantly those in the academic circles, who wish to research on the nature, progress and structure of the Church after the models of the Vatican II. I personally was very much involved with Kurien in the secretarial works for Jnanadeepa: Pune Journal of Religious Studies and AUC (Apostolic Union of Clergy): Asian Journal of Religious Studies. While I was president of student councils at the Papal Seminary, he was the animator, who guided us in the right direction at all times. As a Professor and Rector of the Jnanadeepa Vidyapeeth, he has contributed enormously to the academic and administrative growth of the institution, while preparing a large number of students both men and women to be good leaders of the church. May Fr. Kurien continue to enjoy the eternal bliss of the Lord and be a blessing to us for us on earth from heaven above. His Student Charles Davis.
