Mentor

June 30, 2020
Very few people can probably say that their dad mentored them in life as well in their careers. I am privileged to say that Daddy was not just a role model at home and in life but also in work as well.

I studied Medicine at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and daddy's clinic in Mushin was within walking distance to the college. Countless times during my university years, I would stroll down to his clinic to have lunch and we would discuss clinical cases, my studies or just chat. It was a priceless period in my development as a young man and has helped me become the man and the doctor that I am today.

I am forever grateful to my dad and can only pray that I can do the same *for my children as well.

Dad was a child at heart

June 30, 2020
I remember growing up as little kids and my dad would get on the floor to play with us. One of our favourite games was 'donkey'. Dad would get on the floor on all fours and wee would ride on his back like he was a donkey. Sometimes he would have all 3 of us riding at the same time!

Another favourite was 'Tree'. He would lie down and lift one of his legs up in the air and we all had a go at trying to climb up his leg like we were climbing a tree. He would always cheat by moving his leg so you could never get to the top.

He was always up for these childish games and whenever we asked t play, he never refused.
Oh, and daddy loooooved his ice cream. It was always a feature at home after dinner and there was always a tub of ice cream in the freezer as long as I can remember. I reckon he was always a child at heart.
