I so often quote beautiful Lila's wise advice to me when I add a bouquet to my food items at the farmers' market or grocery store:
"If you have 2 dollars, spent one dollar on bread -- and the other on flowers!"

Prices have gone up, but I still follow that life-giving advice and think of her!

A year ago after hearing the news of my dear friend, Lila, I was driving home after storm when I stopped to take a photograph of the spectacular sky. The clouds were thick and hundred shades of grays and blues, and in the center was a clearing Woodlite pouring through. It wasn't until I got home and looked and photograph again and I noticed the shape of a letter C in the center of it all! It was so fitting that dear Lila who taught us all to love and appreciate beauty, God and the hereafter spirit world would go out with a dazzling sky and show us her mark, lit up by radiant rays of sun. I'm reminded of Lila at many turns of the day and relish her presence and gifts to me of life-long love.

This Monday marks fifty years since my own mother's death. Lila was there shortly after to show me love and care - moments I cherish to this day.

May God's love be with you, and us, always.

I want to convey my sincerest condolences to the children of Mrs Carloni the beautiful lady I wish I had known better and longer, in particular to my good friend Carol whose efforts, affection and dedication towards her mother were very touching. May God keep Lila's soul amongst His chosen.

It was my great pleasure to know Lila. In addition to seeing her at church at St. James the Less, I visited her and brought her Communion when she couldn't get to church. Her house was charming, our confersations were always interesting sometimes included surprises. Her charm and very special style were unique, and we shared a bond in our faith and love of God.

Lila once said to me, "If you have $2 to spend, spend a dollar on flowers, then a dollar on food." She lived the beauty that her advice represented.  Although we have moved away from the dead end street where she lived, we will miss her, nevertheless. Bob and I send our prayers and sympathy to Mona, Carol, and Vincent.

The Williams Family grew up down the block from the Carloni's. I have known them since I was a little girl. The Lee Road house sat at the end of a dead end street, and the stairs going down the hill beside it led to Hyatt Field where we often played.  Mona and I were friends who lost touch until we were in the Scarsdale High School. The last time I saw Mona, I was at White Plains Hospital out-patient department, and she had come in about an appointment for Mona. We didn't keep in touch after that. My condolences to the Carloni family.
