Pronounce this ...

June 23, 2010

This came to me earlier when I heard someone behind me say "Winder" instead of "Window" ...

Teresa, Steven & I were sitting in the house one night eating dinner with Momma. For some reason, we got on the topic of how we pronounce different words. I believe it started with the way I said OIL ... but anyway ...

Teresa said "That's nothing ... Momma say EGG" ... Momma looked at her funny and said "AYEGG" ... we cracked up. Then it was "FIRE" ... "FAR" ... "INNUENDOS" ... she said something that sounded like "IN THE WINDOWS" and so on. We just kept going, and we all had a little laugh about it. It was funny. Momma was even laughing.

See, she grew up in the SOUTH ... and I don't mean just across the Mason Dixon line, I mean Momma grew up IN - THE - SOUTH

Anyway, it was a thought that passed through my mind today when I heard someone else talking about a "winder" ... I wonder if Momma said window or winder? Hmmm

Goodbye's the Saddest Word

June 22, 2010

Goodbye's the Saddest Word (Celine Dion)

Momma

You gave life to me
Turned a baby into a lady

Momma
All you had to offer
Was the promise of a lifetime of love

Now I know
There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child

And I know
A love so complete
Someday must leave
Must say goodbye

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

Momma
You gave love to me
Turned a young one into a woman

Momma
All I ever needed
Was a guarantee of you loving me

'Cause I know
There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child

And it hurts so
That something so strong
Someday will be gone, must say goodbye

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

But the love you gave me will always live
You'll always be there every time I fall
You are to me the greatest love of all
You take my weakness and you make me strong
And I will always love you 'til forever comes

And when you need me
I'll be there for you always
I'll be there your whole life through
I'll be there this I promise you, Momma

Momma, I'll be
I'll be your beacon through the darkest nights
I'll be the wings that guide your broken flight
I'll be your shelter through the raging storm
And I will love you 'till forever comes

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

'Till we meet again ...
Until then ...
Goodbye ...

Ms. Linda

June 22, 2010

I have known Leia since we were teens. We use to drive Ms. Linda crazy with some of the antics and games we would play. She always caught on to our schemes, but allowed us to make our own choices and to grow and learn from them.

You were taken way too soon and your absence leaves a tremendous emptiness in so many hearts today. You are going to be so missed.

I'm sorry that I didn't stay close to you in these last few years. Life just pulled me in other directions, but I wont ever forget you and the things you did for all of us. You were a terrific person Ms. Linda.
