Her Life
February 28, 2012

Lisa was born on October 27th 1961 in Stockton, Ca. She was raised in Stockton and attended Stagg High School where her dad was a teacher. She attended Delta College and CSU Sacramento (Sac State) where she earned a liberal arts degree with the intention of becoming a teacher, like her parents.

After graduating college she moved to Marin County Ca. and married her college sweetheart John Thompson. She worked at a recording studio until starting a family (daughters Sarah and Jennifer).

When her daughters were in preschool she volunteered at their cooperative and happily spent her time working with young children. When her kids went to elementary school she went to work at their school as, among other things, a teachers aide. Her genuine love of children made her the aide of choice among the 1st grade teachers and she maintained friendships with many of the teachers and staff even after leaving the school. As "yard duty lady" she held the kids to a high standard of conduct and took pride in the notion that she was positively influencing our local kids both inside the classroom and out on the playground (preparing them for real life she used to say). Lisa, in her own way, was a positive influence on a generation of our town's children and our community is better for it.

She loved children and considered her time working at the elementary school to generally be the best years of her life. This time of her life created deep roots in the community that lasted for the rest of her life.

Lisa was generous, kind and loving like no one else that I've ever known. She was always ready to lend a hand and was always helpful and giving in every situation. She was an amazing woman and touched everyone that she knew in a special way.

The closing chapters of her life were marred by a fight with cancer but through it all she always maintained a selfless and generous spirit that was truly unsurpassed. Even in her darkest hours she always put the needs of others first, her personality was one of genuine kindness and generosity and our community will be less special without her.
