Second Reunion April 10, 1945
Third Reunion - Sissone, then Paris
War was over in Europe. Lois was back with the 241st Gen . Hosp. in Sissone France near Reims. John took a train from Mainz, Germany to pick up Lois , and then they were going to Paris. John got off at wrong station, Soissons, past Sissone, and had to go back to get her! They spent six days in Paris, Lois stayed with the Red Cross hotel. John got a room at a nice hotel on the Champs-Elysees where he saw Gen. DeGaulle in the lobby.
March 1945 - First Reunion since Nov.
In March1945, Joh's 70th division was put in reserve at Mainz, Germany after being active since Christmas 1944. Lois' letters were dated just several days earlier, so he knew she was near (the Army censored locations in letters). He fond out where the 30th Field Hospital was stationed and drove there with his jeep driver, about 100 miles, near Kassell, Germany. He surprised her, still in full battle gear, she did not recognize him. During their visit, a German fighter jet, an Me262, dropped a bomb on the town and strafed it.
