Her Life
January 21, 2018

Mrs. Awbrey was born December 19, 1923 in Heard County to the late William Eddie Denney and Glimmer Barker Denney. She was a faithful member of Glenloch Baptist Church until her health failed her. It gave her great joy to hear her grandson, Neil, preach each Sunday.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School, where she was a star of the basketball team.

She worked for many years at Baby Cloze of Franklin where she was a seamstress.

Family was at the center of her life. She loved to cook Sunday dinner each week. Having her children and grandchildren over for a visit gave her great joy.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and board games. She was an active member of the Heard County Pilot Club. She also looked forward to reading the News and Banner each week.

She loved to travel, and had the opportunity to go on a tour of Europe some years ago. In previous years, she enjoyed going on trips with the Heard County Senior Center and Franklin First Baptist Church. She had wonderful memories of the many trips she took with some of her best friends from Heard County.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law: Al and Judy Prince Awbrey of Franklin, and Roy and Billie Freeman Awbrey of Peachtree City; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. N. V. Awbrey, one sister, Florene Hopson, and one brother, Dr. Roy L. Denney.
