ForeverMissed

Welcome to Lolly Hoerner’s “Celebration of Life” website. The purpose of this website is to celebrate Lolly’s life, friends and family. Think of it as a memorial service where you view (rather than listen to) information relating to Lolly’s life along with comments from friends and family. You can leave a tribute candle with a message or you can leave a "story" with more text.  The final result should be wonderful collection of information and memories which make a fitting tribute to Lolly’s life.

Thank you for taking the time to remember Lolly -- Greg Hoerner

Lolly, Mike and I continue to miss you, and love you. We bring up pictures, just the other day Mike picked a picture without searching it was for a background, and it was a picture of you in a boat at Lake Hihihum with Greg and Johnny...that was so much fun.

Seven years, but it seems like much less. I still miss you very much and think about you all of the time - especially when I am with our grandkids. You would be so happy baking with Kate, playing hockey with Nathaniel and reading to Liliana. Love ya!

Happy Anniversary! This is a tough day for me... We had 40 wonderful years of marriage and I am thankful for that, but it would have been great to have you around longer, especially to see your wonderful grandkids. You are still on my mind. Love you!

It's not getting any easier, I still miss you a lot. The sweet pea seeds the kids and I started on February 7 are ready to be planted outside. I was supposed to do it on your birthday but I never had a quiet moment to myself, sorry. I'm going to make sure it gets done today. Nathaniel asked me the other day if you were Grandma or Great Grandma, he said sometimes he forgets. It made me sad that he doesn't have his own memories of you, just the ones we've told him. All three kids definitely know you were so loved, though!

Happy Birthday! Many things happening with your daughters and grandkids - and they all miss you, as I do. You should be very proud indeed. I think of you every day and still miss you. They say time heals all wounds, but I guess some take longer than others... Love Ya!

Happy Birthday! Your daughters and I constantly remind your grandkids of their Grandma Lolly; we all miss you. Kim has some sweet peas coming up and I made a trellis for them, just like the one I made for you in Port Orchard. Love ya!

Happy Birthday, Mom! The kids and I made you a birthday dinner and cake. We talk about you lots, I miss you so much. Laurel often asks me to repeat stories about when she was a baby and you played with her. Nathaniel is convinced you played with him too. Of course, not wanting to be left out, Liliana says "Me too!" You would love the kids; they love you.

I have been thinking about Lolly a lot lately. I am in a college level speech class and one of speech topics was to create a persuasive speech about a social cause. After much thought, I chose ovarian cancer. For my opener, I introduced Lolly to my audience, stating that I think about her frequently and look up to her. She was a strong woman. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through her stories on this website. In addition, I've done a lot of research about ovarian cancer and understand the importance of self-education.
I thought about Lolly a lot on her birthday, but I couldn't find the time to post. Happy Belated Birthday Aunt Lolly! You are truly missed.

I met Lolly (and Greg) in the 7th grade. Lolly's birthday is exactly three weeks after mine. We weren't always close but I always thought of her on "our" birthdays. You are missed girl!

Our family celebration of life

Shared by Greg Hoerner on April 23, 2012

Lolly,

Today (Apr 23) is your birthday.  As we discussed, I took our girls and their families to Hawaii to have our family “Celebration of Life” for you.  There have been a few snafus, especially when dealing with two infants and a toddler, but we are having a good time.  I went out to “our beach” this morning at sunrise to, yet again, say goodbye; I appreciate the aurora in the clouds when I finished.  Thanks for 40 wonderful years and the memories.  Amo te, cum toto corde et anima mei.

Greg.

Bangkok Days

Shared by Chris Lusignan on March 8, 2012

We were expatriates in Bangkok with Greg, Lolly, Michelle and Kim. Our Kim was in the same grade as Kim at ISB and Lolly and I volunteered together many days at the school. She was always such a quiet force with a big heart and smile. When the Hoerners moved to Singapore, Lolly passed on her Girl Guide (Girl Scouts) responsibilities to me and and I soon found myself the new Commissioner of Girl Guides. We next met up with the Hoerners unexpectedly in a campground in New Zealand as both families were on holiday traveling the island in opposite directions! Truly it's a small world! We never missed a Christmas card and neither did Lolly as we continued to travel. Our hearts go out to Greg, Michelle, Kim and their lovely families. We all miss you, Lolly.

Choc Chip Cookies

Shared by Sarah Bassett on March 1, 2012

I still cannot make chocolate chip cookies like Lolly.  She gave us a plate with the recipe on when we left Greece in 1981.  Lolly gave me a one to one cookery demonstration in my kitchen in England  and still they are not as good as hers!!! Every time we met Lolly there was always a box of chocolate chip cookies for us to take away to eat – even when it was the last thing she wanted to do in October during her treatment -she had made some chocolate chip cookies for us to eat on our holiday.  Thank you Lolly – I will keep trying to make them.

Miss you, Love Sarah xx
