Luke Allen Mastroianni (December 20, 1980 – February 19, 2024)
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12Luke Allen Mastroianni, 43, of Homewood, AL, died peacefully at home after a mighty and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on February 19, 2024. He was born in Birmingham, AL in 1980, the oldest of three children to Richard and Susan Mastroianni. Luke attended St. Clair County High School before acquiring his undergraduate degree at Auburn University, and then working over 15 years as a Social Security Claims Representative in Birmingham, AL.
Luke was a devoted husband and is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kinnery and two sons Quinn (12) and Cole (8). His parents, Richard and Susan Mastroianni, sister Laura Beth (Eric) Ezzell, and brother Jake (Carol) Mastroianni. Then eight nephews, extended family, church family, and friends who loved him unconditionally.
Luke had an adventurous spirit for life and pursued each day to encourage others to smile and laugh, many times at him or with him. He was a natural born athlete playing high school football, basketball, and baseball. Then in his adult life Luke trained and ran both full and half marathons to help raise money for the Bell Center where his son, Quinn, received specialized therapy as a young child for Down Syndrome.
Luke’s children were his inspiration and his true drive to fight this cancer battle over the last two years. Despite the pain he endured, he pushed himself to make numerous special trips with family and friends to make lasting memories that now fill our hearts with warm thoughts.
Luke was an active member at Homewood Church of Christ where he was a true servant of the Lord. Even while taking chemo, he continued to volunteer to help people move, attend services regularly, serve others in need, and encourage others facing their own health battles.
The great memories Luke created and the fight he endured with this cancer battle will live on in the hearts of all those who love him for many years to come.
