My Father-in-law

My father-in-law accepted
me as I am...
no questions asked
he didn't care about my past or where I am from
He welcomed me with
an open heart and mind
to me he was very kind

My father-in-law
will be missed...
he was full of life and humorous
his character defined

Good-bye dear loved one
you sailed to the heavens above...
at peace you now are
among the shining stars

This was in 8th grade. Right before we took this picture Pawpaw said "Come here Miss Hollywood, the good looking people have to take a picture together. We look like models." He was always so silly, and that's how I'll always remember him.

First Born Male Marler Tradition

November 28, 2012

Dad received a Rolex Air King watch from Seagrams in appreciation of his many years of outstanding service.  He passed it on to his first born male Marler, Michael. This started the tradition of passing the watch to the first born male Marler. At the Christmas 2011 family gathering, one in which the Bookey clan had driven from Connecticut to attend, Michael presented the watch to Keefer Marler.

A Man Full Of Life

November 25, 2012

I remember the first time i met him in 2011.
I was so anxious; i wanted him to approve of me as his daughter in-law. I tried to be prim and proper. I tried to impress him, but when i met him, he was the easiest going person i have ever met. He was full of life.

He made me feel welcomed to his family. We drove to Shreveport together to pick up some of his stuff at Bunny's place. He made a lot of jokes on the way. He had a great sense of Humor.

He always wants David to give him some belly sugars.

I spoke to him on Thanksgiving Day. He told me he would have loved for us to have some fun time barbequing, and enjoy the beautiful weather. I told him I am looking forward to it.

I know I only knew a little bit about him before he passed on. I was privileged to have met my father-in-law.
