Happy Birthday Lyria, You truly touched so many hearts. Your spirit lives on. I think of you often and miss you.

This flower is as close to the lei of flowers Lyria loved. She really enjoyed her time here in Hawaii. Kevin & I feel so lucky to have shared in her joy during her visit. We sat here tonight and listened to her whole karaoke of "Stairway to Heaven." We saw her perform it live!!! Tonight, smiles mixed with tears remind us of her light!

I enjoyed all the time spent with Lyria, I am so happy to have known someone like that in my life. I am also greatful to have spent her last days with her, because eventhough she knew of her condition, she was still in good spirit and she was worried about making everyone else happy. Lyria reflected to us what is at the heart of being human. Despite her many difficulties, we could always see a spark of enjoyment and enthused interest in the people around her. Her warm appreciation was a gift and she thrived with the support of her amazing, loving family. We are glad to have known her.

Once I played Lyria one of my favorite pieces of obscure electronic music. As she listened her eyes lit up in surprise and she said 'wow, I've never heard music like this before'. I don't know if she liked it, but it was clear that she was excited by how different it was. She was sort of a muse for me, as I have often set out to make music that I felt would create the same reaction in her.

David and I were always in awe of Lyria's independence and of the family's support of her independence. She made clear how dearly she valued her life in how she fought for it. It moves us deeply to know she is on her stairway and that she wanted to share her song with us.
