He was born in Franklin, Georgia on June 29, 1955, the son of the late, Betty Jo Hopson Pope and Hulet Wayne Pope. For most of his life he was a member Franklin United Methodist Church but in his later years he enjoyed attending Bethel Baptist Church in Carroll County, Georgia and was especially fond of its Pastor, Keith Rivers. He was a 1973 graduate of Heard County High School, and a former employee of Brown Steel in Newnan, Georgia where he was a welder. Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Sonya Leigh Pope of Franklin, Georgia; and nephew, Christopher Pope of Savannah, GA. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his only brother, Hulet Michael Pope.
