Food served with LOVE
October 18, 2022
I can recall going into the south street diner countless times (beginning in 1989) and also remember when they had the restaurant rebuilt to a larger size to accommodate their growing clientele. Each time I stepped inside I was greeted by Phyllis or one of the other hostesses, with a smile and a warm welcome. Mark and Phyllis were a mainstay in the center of Westborough, and even though I didn't know them personally, they always made you feel welcomed like family guests. And they remembered you each time we visited. Restaurants like theirs only come around once in a lifetime, and people like Mark and Phyllis are even more rare. I also remember they contributed an annual scholarship award for a well deserving local Westborough High School senior. They were always giving back to their local community. My son was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2016 and I would stop by to get his favorite Vegatable Beef soup that Mark made and bring it to him at UMass medical center hospital. Jon is a cancer survivor and was devastated when he read the community advocate article regarding Marks passing. All my prayers and LOVE go out to Phyllis and Mark's son, and their immediate family. God Bless you all, and Rest in eternal Peace Mark.We will miss that great BIG smile! My son and I would sometimes joke that Mark could have been a stand in movie stunt double for the actor Chuck Norris! :^)
