Grammy is such an amazing person with everthing she does and I have so many nice memories with grammy so I decided to choose the two most important ones which are her always taking me to Michael's to get whatever crafting things I wanted to get, one time she helped me make a scrapbook and she also helped me paint ornaments the way she used to do it. that was an important one but something even better is how much she would bake with me, we made Nestle chocalate chip cookies, but the best thing she made is the pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving with homemade crust which was the best part,my mom would never do that!!She would let me do all the fun stuff.Grammy was such an amazing person and I wish I told her that, I definetly would not do what I do today without all of the encouragement from the one and only grammy!!!

I had a whole bunch of memories i was gonna write about here, but then this one popped up and i knew it was the right one. Every time that Grammy and Papa came to visit us, my sisters and I would wake up before her, go downstairs to their room quietly, and say BOO!!!, to wake her up. Then of course she came out, got her coffee and peanut butter toast, and turned on the Today show. I know now that waking her up before she wanted to was kind of rude, but she was always nice about it. She was always just a really nice person, and a great grandma to all of us.

Oh, and I noticed that in the "Her Life" tab, her Key Lime Pie was left out, that was always my favorite.

Grammy was a beautiful person inside and out. She was kind and thoughtful and never passed up an opportunity to see any of us play a soccer game. The number of games, tournaments, and practices that she attended was more than any of us will ever be able to count. Aside from my mom and dad, her and papa truly were our number one fans. She loved sporting our team t-shirts around whether it was McKinney Boyd, Texas Tech, or A&M. Even if it meant she had to rotate which one she wore while she was with us to avoid favoritism of the friendly rivaliries between Jeffrey and I. It was the little things she always did to make us happy. When grammy and papa came to town I always knew there was going to be a lot of laughs going around too. Every morning I would wake up and come downstairs to see grammy eating two pieces of cinnamon swirl toast and drinking a cup of coffee at the kitchen table in her robe. Sometimes the cinnamon swirl toast would be substitued for peanut butter toast if we were out. I remember how much she loved eating that every morning because she said she coud never find that bread in California. Usually, you could find the morning paper next to her on the table as well. All of these things always reminded me of when grammy came to town because we never had cinnamon toast at the house, no one ever brewed coffee- they would just go to starbucks, and I didn't even know we got the paper at our house still. But the smell of fresh coffee and the sound of the paper crinkling when grammy read it always set the scene for when she was there. That image is something that I will never forget and will never leave my brain. She also loved to share with us what she read in the paper. To a point that it actually became an inside joke with us that when she told us a fun fact or event that was going on it was fair to assume that she "read it in the paper" haha. I miss her every day more and more, and some days it hits harder than others that she really is gone, but I know she is up there is heaven eating her cinnamon toast, drinking her coffee at the kitchen table, and reading in the paper how Texas Tech is ranked higher than A&M haha :) I love you grammy, so much. "Together forever, never apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart."

Grandma Marti was one of the most insightful and well kept up with people that I have ever know when it came to sports. It was awesome because although I would never spend much time with her and the girls going shopping at the mall whenever she came down to visit, she and I could always have a great conversation about sports whenever and wherever. She was always well up to date on everything and giving me the inside scoop on what she had read or heard about in the sports world. That's how she was with all of her grandchildren, she always found something to talk about with everyone no matter what they were into. She was one of the most well rounded individuals I knew and she will be greatly missed by everyone.

I remember that whenever grammy came and visited us she would always tell us some funny stories about my mom from when she was a kid or even just some funny stories about papa! But the point is that Grammy always knew how to make people laugh and that was just one of the many great qualities that came naturally to her!

I remember how Grammy would always like to play games with me, as many as I wanted. We always had a lot of fun.

I used to always call Grammy on the phone and talk about what we'd done that week. Whenever I mentioned shopping, Grammy would always email me a zillion coupons. I ignored them, because they not only seemed like more effort then I cared to put forth, but a little old lady-ish. Last winter when she came over, she brought all her coupons and we went shopping. I was amazed not only by the savings, but how she must have always thought of me whenever she was at Jo-Anns or got an email from Barnes and Noble. I really miss how she always thought of the little things like that. If I expressed interest in something and she saw a newspaper article about it, she'd mail it. If she saw a good fabric sale, she'd call. Grammy always had us on her mind.

Learning to Sew

August 2, 2014

When I was about seven, my family traveled to California to visit Grammy and Papa. While I was there, I became curious about her sewing. As you all know, Grammy was quite crafty and an expert seamstress. I asked her to teach me to sew so that I could create  things like she did. She agreed to do it, and gave me some fabrics, needles, thread, and a bit of quilt stuffing to use. With these I managed to create a rather limp and pathetic looking pink doll, which was unclothed and completely flat. Despite the poor quality of my work, Grammy encouraged me to continue sewing.
