Martin was born in Trenton NJ and was a Trenton resident until 1983 when he moved to Maine and returned to Trenton in 1991. He enjoyed books, music, the great outdoors, cycling and movies. He also enjoyed traveling. He was an artist and book researcher. He taught gymnastics at the Princeton YWCA. He was a member of the choir at St. Hedwig's Church and the Church of the Incarnation. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
