Her Life

The daughter of Clifford and Johnnie Latimore Tellis, Mrs. Barbee was a native of Columbus, GA and a was a 1954 graduate of Wm. H. Spencer High School. She was a member of the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served with the 4th Avenue Missions Ministry, BTU Sunday School Class and the Choir. She was employed as a dispatcher for the Checker Cab Company and a nursing assistant at the Highland House Nursing Facility. She retired as a private duty sitter for the Flournoy and Miller families.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Mr. Thomas Barbee II, and a son, Alvin Curry.

Surviving are: three daughters, Gail Robinson (Bolentha), Thonda McMillan (Oscar) and Melvelyn Rue (Randal); three son, Thomas Barbee III (Raquel), Andrew Barbee (Cynthia) and Clifton Mitchell (Marie); a grandson she who she raised, Michael Stevens (Kenisha); a host of loving grands, great grands and great great grandchildren; two god children, Yamona Pierce and Yvonne Walton; other relatives and friends.
