Mrs. Mary Frances Atkinson, of LaGrange, formerly of West Point, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at West Georgia Medical Center. 

Mrs. Atkinson was born in West Point, Georgia on Tuesday, July 26, 1921 to the late Mary Emma and Lee Roy Tillery.

After graduating from West Point High School, she attended Ward Belmont and the University of Georgia.  While at the university, she was a nutrition major and studied art under Lamar Dodd.  She was a career homemaker whose house was truly a home in which her family always knew they came first.  A lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of West Point, she delivered meals on wheels, was a member of Altar Guild and a founding member of Funtastics exercise group.  She enjoyed being a member of a sewing group and a Mexican Train group.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan Lane Atkinson, Jr., her brother, Lee Roy (Bubber) Tillery and her grandson Cole Strother.

Survivors include her son Nathan Lane Atkinson, IV (Lisa) of Winston-Salem, NC, her two daughters Martha Atkinson Mackey of Chattanooga, TN and Mary Lee Atkinson Brown (Steve) of LaGrange, GA; her grandchildren Beth Atkinson Lamphear (David), Nathan Atkinson (Lonnie), Theral Mackey, Alan Mackey, Jonathan Mackey (Shannon), Matthew Strother, Zack Brown, and Stephanie Brown; her great grandchildren Lane Lamphear, Evan Lamphear, Ella Atkinson, Maggie Atkinson, Edie Atkinson, Holden Mackey and Westley Strother.
