Her Life

Mattie Kate Anthony was born May 2, 1936 to the late Charlie Jones and Sally Emma Willis in Woodbury, Georgia.  She joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age.  She was a very dedicated and caring person that loved her family.  She served faithfully in church until her health failed.

On Sunday, August 5, 2012, this beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend was called to Heaven to be with the Lord.  She had fulfilled her calling and was summoned from this battlefield of life to eternal joy and peace with God.

She was united in holy matrimony to L. C. Anthony, December 26, 1952 with whom they had nine children.  One child precedes her in death, Victor Anthony.  She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters: Carolyn Copeland (Derrick) of Woodbury, GA, Dorothy Booker (Timothy) of Woodbury, GA, Vivian Horton (Ronald) of Barnesville, GA; five sons, Eddie Anthony (Elizabeth) of Manchester, GA, Dennis Anthony (Tiffany) of Thomaston, GA, Tommy Anthony (Elizabeth) of Greenville, GA, Tony Anthony (Claudette) of Molena, GA, Russell Anthony (Erlyn) of Woodbury, GA; thirty-four grandchildren, Rodney, Courtland (Brenda), Tondrika (Stevonn), Tequila, Shynice, Kendra, Keygee, Yachsia, Eddie Jr., Jalisa, Keyada, Dentarius, Tiffany, Dentravious, TaAliyah, Gregg, Ashley, Tristian, Machella, Tanisha, Alise, Antonio, Tijian, Dakota, Brittany, Tony, Jocylin, Ashanti, Hakeem, Zjeida, Enya, Elana, Zaki and two precedes her in death; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; extended family includes eight step children, Darlene, Bessie, Benetha, Eddie, Antony, Jessie, Willie C., and Larry.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Lee Wade of Virginia Beach, VA, and Virginia Stubb of Atlanta, GA; four brothers, George Jones (Linda) of Woodbury, GA, Charles Jones (Martha) of Atlanta, GA, Ulice Jones (May Vona) of Manchester, GA, and Frank Jones of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Estelle Jones and Annie Bell Anthony of Woodbury, GA, and Emma Anthony of Hampton, GA; a host of family and friends that include nieces, nephews, and cousins that will hold her dear in their hearts forever.
