Dear Family of Maxine,

I'm sorry that you are experiencing the mourning of losing a love one. Many if not all of us has experienced this, but I would like to share a brief scripture that will may just bring you comfort.

(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Thanks for reading.

Ma (Nana) was a bright, well read woman of courage, determination and perseverance. She seemed to be tireless in all she did especially in caring for her family. She was not the one to wait for someone to do something she deemed necessary to be done! She always was truthful about what she thought but was a willing listener and I will miss her and the conversations we had about many subjects in which we learned from each other. Rest well Ma knowing you left a great legacy behind you for so many. With Love Sheilah

Ma was a woman of love, strength and endurance. She loved her family and her community. Her commitment to her family, community and civil rights was unequaled.
When I first met Ma she told me her educational credentials, and then stated "And I can swing a mean hammer". I discovered that being a woman of action, when she wanted something done, if no one would assist her, she would do it herself. So she removed a wall in her house, because she wanted to expand her room!!
Her independence inspired me. Her concern for children inspired me. Her fierce love of her family and community inspired me. I truly miss her very much.
