In Memory of my Grandma Harrison:

November 17, 2013

In Memory of my Grandma Harrison:

I’ll always associate Grandma with the holidays and the gathering of family. I remember the joy she put into each family get together-making traditional meals, decorating the table, laying out her best china-she was in her element.

She was a fiercely independent and an incredibly hard worker who was good at everything she did. She loved working with her hands and excelled at cooking (making almost everything from scratch) sewing, knitting and gardening.

My grandmother was refined and calm. From an early aged she taught me to treat others with respect, and tried to instill in me the politeness that came so naturally to her. She was an extraordinarily strong person in mind, body and spirit who looked after my grandfather through many months of his illness with grace and dignity.

She was the kind of grandma who enjoyed treating me to things- a meal out, homemade food,a “pop” from her basement stash, or a trip to visit interesting places like the Natural History Museum or Pioneers Park. We would often stop on the way home to visit my grandfather and have an ice cream together at Dairy Queen.

In the last year she faced the challenges of declining health with strength and courage. She is now at peace and will be preserved perfectly in our memories and hearts. She lives on in all of us.

We will miss you grandma...
