Strong Woman

December 19, 2022
Meisha is important to me that I included her in my update for June. We would occasionally talk during hurricane season. We would joke about the “cone” and the weather people that would hunt for the worst spot to film.
I’m living with ALS and write the updates to my friends and family, Meisha was both. The following is just a story about Meisha that will hopefully let you in my love for her.
Hello my family and friends - I am starting this update with a family note yesterday would have been the birthday of my niece who passed away in December 2020. You might be saying “Penny why are you starting this on a sad note ?” Well it’s only sad if you didn’t have the pleasure of knowing her. She was a strong woman (referred to in this update as Ms America) and I had the trip of a lifetime surrounded by strong woman this month.
.A story comes to mind of which my niece learned as a female she was going to have to be strong if she wanted to live with dignity in a man’s world. OK - enough politics - let’s get to the story. One Christmas my niece got an electric toy car, it just happened to be the same year that my nephew from out of town was there for the holidays. As she watched him drive all over the 1 acre property of my parents, she asked her dad, “Am I going to have a turn?” So early on, probably 4, she knew how to diplomatically point out the idiotic way of men. (OK- this is where you laugh)
Love and laughter,
Aunt p
