Vietnamese Catholic Community in Whittier always remember two persons, father Jean Marie Thống, and Bác Minh, which means Uncle Minh.
Yes, uncle Minh help father Thống, father Báu, and father Nghiễm to lay foundation for Vice Provincia Extra Patriam of Vietnamese Redemptorists Mission after their resettlement to the U.S. In 1975.
Yes, uncle Minh named our community as St. Alfonso Vietnamese Community of Whittier, uncle Minh is the soul and the glue that keep us to come back to Sunday Vietnamese Mass even we scatter all over Southern California in the 2000's.

To Quang, Dr Doug and the Nguyen family,

It's so sad. It's a privilege for me to have known your Dad. I enjoyed our conversations the few times I met him. May the passage of time help you and your family getting over this great loss.

He was a very kind and friendly man, a true Christian.
I always remember his smiling image every time I visit his house to this day.
May he rest in peace in heaven wearing wings of gold.
