Minor, The Mighty one. You fought the good fight, You finished the race and you kept the faith. Being human, I can't help but feel the pain and sadness. Because you left such an indelible effect on me. The Mighty chef, The Mighty husband, The Mighty father, The Mighty friend, The Mighty Doctor, The Mighty Godly and family man. I take solace in the fact that you are in the bosom of the Almighty God and your spirit will live on in the precious memories you left for us. Another competitive pool player in heaven, watch out God....God will Protect and Bless your family. Rest in Perfect Peace.

Minor was a light in our world. I never saw him without a smile. A gentle soul who always had a kind word for everyone. We miss him.

Young David endeared himself to all and exerted such godly influence in King Saul's palace. He was going to be permanently absent from the palace and Jonathan said of him In 1 Sam 20:18 "Tomorrow is the New Moon Feast. and thou shall be missed because thy seat will be empty".

As our beloved Minor has departed this world, we doubtlessly can say that he will surely be missed because his seat will be empty: his seat as a Husband, Father, Brother, Son, Friend etc etc will be empty and he will surely be greatly missed.

We were honored to join Minor and Esther in holy matrimony. They had to go through pre-marital counseling with us prior to the wedding. He was such a gentleman! His answers to questions reflected the heart of a God-fearing young man who understood God’s perspective on life & marriage. We were left in no doubt that he would take care of his wife and children and It was my joy to join him to Esther.

His genuine smiles and soft voice will surely be missed. We are comforted by the fact that he is now beholding the face of our Savior and walking on the streets of gold. He has entered into his eternal rest where there will be no more pain, sorrow or tears. Our deepest condolences to Esther, the children and the extended family members.

Minor, continue to rest in the bosom of your Savior till we meet to part no more.

Uncle Minor was and will remain a pillar to this family and the extended network of people he touched throughout his life. We all have known him to be a man of faith, family, virtue, and one who always had the most poignant insight to impart through his timely, fitting advice.

All of us remain devastated by his sudden passing, but will carry him with us in our hearts and minds, and by sheltering Auntie Esther, Tori and Roli with all of the love and support they need for the rest of their days.

Although we all stand burdened by grief at the loss of Uncle Minor from our lives, we also stand together in thankfulness that he was...that we knew him and were bettered by his immeasurable contributions to our lives.

God blessed us with his life, and needed to take him away too soon, much to our disbelief and lack of understanding, but we will remain a testament to the life he lived and the man he was. Uncle Minor, we will miss you so much!

Hi Uncle Minor!

I've never known anyone who had carried the perfect blend of wisdom, warmth, humility, wit, charisma, & spiritual discernment than you!

You've always taken the time to mentor me about life, education, & God's Love while also setting an example of how to be a Great Father, Husband, & Man in today's society.

My brother's and I watched how you interacted with everyone you came in contact with like apprentices watching a master in his element, you lit up every room you entered! We took notes, we are INSPIRED!

I will impart your wisdom onto my children as you did for me and your legacy will live on for generations to come through us all.

I miss you Uncle!

Until we meet again. Love always!

Your Nephew

Uncle Minor,

You have always been such an amazing mentor and Godly fearing man. I've loved being able to just sit with you and listen to your stories and advice. I've always just sat there and absorbed it like a sponge. I've struggled to find the words to capture what's on my mind and heart when it comes to you.

First, I thank Jesus that we've all had the honor to be blessed by your positive presence, your infectious joy, and your genuine love for your family. Thank you for pouring your understanding and guidance into me whenever we saw or spoke to one another.

You've always lived your life with such appreciation. I'm still learning from you about how to be present in the moments of life. Thank you for being a such a great example of what a real man, father, and husband is. I promise to put into application what you've taught me about life. I am broken for my amazing auntie and cousins. I don't understand the purpose of you leaving so abruptly and so soon, but I've learned to lean on God over my own limited understanding of things.

I know you loved the teaching and application of the Old Testament in the Bible. I'm blessed that we've had so many discussions about God's Word together. So I went to the Old Testament to find a perspective that God would honor in dealing with responding to life's circumstances. HE took me to Psalm 73:26

"My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Despite the tears shed and the pain we all feel I know the truth of this Scripture is real. As weak as I am in my grief I know that God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!

Uncle, I can't wait to see you and talk to you again. We will continue pouring our love into Auntie Esther, Roli, and Tori and will be there for them.

Love you, Uncle!

Your Nephew

Dede and I share many life parallels with Uncle Minor and Auntie Esther. Together they exemplify what a God - fearing , loving couple represent . Uncle Minor will forever be remembered as the most loving, dedicated husband you will ever meet and boy could he hold a conversation ! He never missed an opportunity to share family videos, photos and the Motown 25th anniversary video! Every lesson that he taught and advice he gave will forever remain in my heart as words of wisdom to be cherished . My spirit is at peace knowing that he left Auntie Esther, Tori and Roli with a strong foundation to stand on and hearts so full of love that they will never question his love for them as he remains smiling down on all of us .

We are all very sadden by this great loss. Dr. Tinsley was a wonderful person. He was always so proud of his wife and girls. I knew him professionally for over 20 years. He was a caring skilled Doctor. His spirit was so positive. I was proud to have Minor as a friend.

“Oh God, full of compassion, who dwells on high, grant true rest upon the wings of the Divine Presence, in the exalted spheres of the holy and pure … Therefore, may the All-Merciful One shelter him with the cover of His wings forever, and bind his soul in the bond of life. The Lord is his heritage, may he rest in his resting-place in peace; and let us say: Amen.”

Minor came,saw and conquered.
I am inclined to think that it is natural to feel as gutted as we do by the sudden and painful passing of our brother but one can take comfort in who and what he represented in his short sojourn on this earth.A medical professional,a beloved husband, father, son and brother,he lived a life of dedicated commitment in all these areas and more.he was a highly principled individual who walked his talk,no hypocrite ,what you saw was what you got. He was soft spoken but firm in his dealings with all,He was a true believer christian man who ran a tight ship christian home.
A good and caring host who despite his busy schedule would always make sure family barbecues were part of our summer holidays when we would visit America, minors ribs ,for he held sway at the grill, was legendary.
some people die and you are saddened because they didn’t have Christ but we are comforted this day because we know that he has gone to be with our lord Jesus, this is our hope, our belief, our faith.we love you minor, but Jesus loves you more, rest in the bosom of our lord Jesus.

Dearest Uncle Minor,

Half of my heart is heavy as I write this tribute about you, while the other half is thankful for the life you lived. I never thought i'd have to write a tribute about you so early. Honestly because of your physique and nature i would have voted you the most likely to live over 120 years in our family.

However, God had other plans. Who am I to question him or try to understand. For His ways are not our ways.

One thing i am grateful for is your name. Minor Tinsley. They say our name is the only thing we take with us when we die. Your name is one that people know for being disciplined, principled, kind, caring, Godly and free. You lived a life that evidenced all these qualities and even in death this is what we will remember you for my dear uncle. Thank you for the good name you gave my aunt and cousins.

Almost every time i saw you as a child or teenager you had a smile on your face and a camera in your hands. Always capturing every moment and living life free. You loved being around family and you so loved your girls. The best girl dad i know and a great husband to my aunt. How i wish i could rewind time to say a few things to you the last time i saw you on the cruise. To tell you about my life and seek your advice. But it is well. You are in a better place. Rest well Uncle.

I promise to always make time for those i love and to treasure every moment shared with family.

Thank you for all the love and care.

What does it take to wear so many hats: Beloved husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, Mentor, Friend, Teammate.........

It takes a Godly man with strength of character, a strong heart, sharp intelligence, a sanse of humor, and lots of compassion.

It takes Minor Tinsley, whose bright light will shine in our hearts forever. We love you Minor.
Sis Pam

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor pain, for the former things have passed away, behold, I make all things new.

No Words can truly express the heaviness I felt when I heard the news that The Lord called you home so early.
What gives me peace of mind is that Minor was a man of god who oversaw his family and established his home upon God's living word.
The standard of Christ was greatly imparted into his girls. I know it will be hard for them to move forward in life but I have God's peace and assurance that they will not turn away from God's word instead lean upon it. And this above of all things I remember about Minor is what I hope those who knew him will remember. That he loved God. He loved his family. Friends loved him. And God said his journey on earth is completed.

I was lucky enough to work with Minor for many years. He always had the biggest smile and greatest attitude. He was a pleasure to spend time with. We kept in touch after our work together ended. I will always consider him a good friend. I wish the best to his beautiful family. He surely will be missed.

Uncle Minor, I watched how you loved intensely and how you were loved with equal intensity.

You lived! You loved and you sure did laugh! And these three things I’m sure everyone who knew you will continuously remember.

I would miss your hugs. In my mind you were the official family photographer, always sneaking in photos whenever you could. Living in the moment! Let’s not forget our conversations on barbecue, God, Aunty Esther and life in general. There are many, many memories

I’m sure you’re still watching and teaching and this time the lesson is strength, togetherness and as usual love.

I'm sure you are laughing and skipping joyfully right now. Please share a hug with my Mom-Aunt Celeste and Sister Linda when you see them walking around Heaven...

Brother Minor and I first met at a chiropractic seminar many years ago in fact his wife was pregnant with their first child and because we were the only 2 black chiropractors attending we spoke and from that moment on whenever I would travel to San Diego from San Dimas, we would get together to catch up - eat (boy did he love eating barbecue everytime) - talk about our love of music - and bend the truth (lie-both of us) as we laughed together.
Every Holiday we would contact each other and just catch up.Most of the time playing phone tag or text tag.
Going to San Diego will never be the same without my brother, my colleeague, my barbecue eating - bend the truth in story telling (lieing), music loving friend!
May I say to his lovely wife - his beautiful children & those who loved Minor, as you mourn be sure to mourn in blessed peace because you were able to be touched by Minor's life and deeds.

Uncle Minor I have no words right now to describe how I feel, knowing that you’re not physically here with us anymore. However I am consoled that you touched God’s heart with your actions here on earth and with the way you treated everyone so dear to your heart. I will hold on to all your words of encouragements and advise, I will do everything you wanted me to do and I’m not letting you go because you live forever in my heart.

I am so grateful and thankful for the people that God has blessed me with. I have so many people who influence me in my life. Uncle Minor was one of many who had a profound impact on me. His mentorship, wisdom, advice, love and encouragement serve as many happy memories that I will cherish forever. Uncle Minor always made for some of the most interesting conversations. He told one of the coolest love stories I think I've ever heard.

I was blessed with an amazing Uncle, and role model. God blessed my Aunt with an incredible husband and my cousins with an incredible Father. He's another example of what I want my marriage and fatherhood to look like when that time comes.

"Let your light so shine before men. That they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16).

Uncle Minor let his light shine, and that shine was bright.

In this life, there are people that you look to for advice and as an example of what life looks like when you do things right.

When I think of Uncle Minor, think of

Godly Man
Great Husband
Great Father
Family
Great mentor
Overcomer
Positivity
A Good Man

He leaves a Legacy of these things. Always willing to help someone see themselves at their full potential. He believes that anyone is capable of becoming anything if they put their mind and full focus into that what they desire!

Beyond any achievements, he always stressed the importance of cherishing moments being together......

Uncle, your legacy is powerful! The last text you sent me was a funny video about dating red flags to watch out for. You knew where my thoughts were and you'd give your advice so willingly. I took it like a sponge. You're still teaching me and loving on me to this day. And I know it will always be like that between us until we meet again. You taught me to enjoy the moments of life while you're experiencing them. I watched you live that truth everytime I saw you. And although I will always miss you, I am constantly reminded of that lesson whenever I see, talk to, or even think of Auntie Esther, Tori, and Roli. You're such a blessing to all of us who knew you. Thank you for loving on us and reminding us that joy is as much of a choice as it is a gift. God's given it to us but it's up to us to use it to it's full potential. You did that so well Uncle! Love and miss you. Greatful to be one of your nephews and to be a torch-bearer, carrying on the legacy you left all of us.
His Life
March 23, 2021
Late in the evening hours of June 23, 1962 at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, Minor Sr. and Anne Tinsley became the proud parents of their first child, a beautiful baby boy they named after his father, Minor Tinsley, Sr.

As a toddler and child, Minor was energetic, inquisitive and he loved talking, which often got him in trouble in the early part of his school years, however his talkative nature would one day become a characteristic God would refine and use for His glory.

At the age of ten, Minor became a big brother to his sister Cindi. He was always attentive and loving to Cindi and the two of them shared a special and unbreakable bond until his passing.

In the early years of Minor’s life he enjoyed the special times he spent with his father and playing with his cousins. He was surrounded by family members who loved and supported him and his little sister, after the sudden passing of their father in 1977.

Minor accepted and surrendered his life to Christ at an early age.
Exposed to the teaching of God’s Word in his home and in church, Minor’s hunger for God’s Word increased, and as God’s Word penetrated deep within him, God began shaping and preparing him for the journey He had planned for him.

Minor’s family understood the importance of education and he was strongly encouraged to continue his education after completing High School.  With the influence of his father who held a PHD and his Uncle Charlie who has a MD degree, he was inspired to purse a profession in the medical field.

Minor received a BS and Master’s degree in Biological Science from UC Irvine in California and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree (DC)  from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa.

In 1998 he began his practice as an Independent Chiropractor in San Diego and was a certified QME examiner for the State of California. Minor was also a member of the California Chiropractic Association (CCA), The National Board of Chiropractic Examiner (NBCE), and California Society of Industrial Medicine (CSIMS).

On July 15, 2000, he married the love of his life Esther Okoturo and to their union God graciously blessed them with two beautiful daughters, Tori and Roli.

With all of Minor’s responsibilities as husband, father and practicing chiropractor, Minor remained a faithful and godly servant. He was a faithful and loving leader over his household, ensuring his family was taught to know the the ways of the Lord and to live their lives accordingly.  To extended family members and friends, Minor was respected and known as a leader who would take time to listen, give godly counsel and encouragement.

Some of Minor’s favorite activities were sleeping, spending time with his family and playing pool. He enjoyed the lasting friendships he had developed over the years with his pool friends.

In the early morning of February 28th, God called Minor’s name and Minor answered His Savior’s call.
While we grieve the lost of our beloved Minor, we take courage from the of words of Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

Minor leaves to forever cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Esther, his two daughters Tori and Roli, mother Anne Tinsley; sister Cindi (Keith); two adopted bothers, Steven Tedford and Jeremy McQueen; mother-love Elizabeth Okoturo; nieces 15; nephews 9; uncles 2; aunts 6 and a host of sisters/brothers-in-love, cousins and friends.

Minor you will always be in our hearts.

Uncle Minor was one of the most compassionate people that I know all of us are missing dearly right now. His charming smiles and the stories he told could easily make our family gatherings full of life.

I can fondly remember many times where we had shared our love of photography; He was the person that inspired me to start taking photos, so it always left a smile on my face when he would compliment my photos. At the last family gathering, I had spent the majority of my time speaking with him. He was funny, kind, and energetic, having a natural warmth about him. Although I didn’t know him all that well, I feel as though I connected with him through that one-on-one time we had

Uncle Minor, thank you for all of the memories and the love that you shared with all of us. We hope that as we live on we can make you proud when you watch over us. You hold a special place in our hearts.

I’m still in shock, it’s too painful to even fathom... Uncle Minor was just a wonderful person, it’s his smile and his witty sense of humor that I will always remember. He loved my sister and his girls so so much they were his life and I thank God for that ❤️

Only God has the answers and we have to be obedient and learn to trust in him but it’s still hard, still so painful.. but uncle Minor is in a better place in the arms of the lord ... and we will miss him every day.

I just pray to God that he wraps his loving arms around my sister and my nieces, that he comforts them And gives them the fortitude to bear his loss.
