Marx Leroy Krogman passed away at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming on Oct 15th 2016 at the age of 85. He passed peacefully with family by his side following a swift decline.
“Roy” is predeceased by his dear wife Audrey in 2010. His brother Alva Ray Krogman was lost in January 1967 in Laos Vietnam.
Roy is lovingly remembered by his son Tom and his wife Phyllis, his son Jerry and wife Melody and his daughter Kelly Steindorf and husband Marty. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Roy and Audrey had been married for 55 years at the time of her death. They were married in Worland Wyoming.
They made their home in Lovell Wyoming where they raised their three children. The boys have fond memories of Roy being their coach for little league baseball and basketball. They also spent time hunting for pheasant and ducks. The kids have fond memories of learning to fly fish with their Dad. The family enjoyed boating at the Horseshoe Bend Reservoir. Roy was active in the community. Took part in Mustang Days Follies and other community events. He was one of the locals that spent his Wednesday evenings at the Powell Golf Course. He started up the “Krogman's Follies” years ago and kept the golfers organized with their game. He got his first hole-in-one on 7-15-2005 and was luck enough to have two more. They eventually moved to a smaller place in Powell once Roy retired in 1985. He and Audrey were Snowbirds for many years and would spend time in Yuma during the cold months. In 2008 they moved to Yuma permanently for Audrey's health needs. Roy has been in Yuma until moving to Gillette Wyoming to live out his days near his son Tom and his wife Phyllis and his grandson Kris.
Roy was born in Billings Montana in 1931. Son of Marx and Metta Luella Krogman. He graduated from Lovell High School and went to Northwest Community College before entering the Navy in 1951. He served for 4 years as an Air Controller Second Class. While in the Navy he enjoyed being a part of the basketball team. He received a Good Conduct First Award and National Defense Service Award. He returned to the area in time to marry Audrey in June of 1955. He accepted a job at the First National Bank of Lovell Wyoming where he worked for 30 year and retired as the President in 1985.
Roy and Audrey loved to dance! They were very good at it! Once Roy convinced Audrey to try golf they were both very avid golfers. He and Audrey had always enjoyed doing crossword puzzles as a way to keep their minds sharp. He had renewed his passion for playing bridge since his recent move to Gillette from Yuma. He started up a group of players at the retirement center where he was living. He also enjoyed reading, watching old movies and beating his kids at card games.
The family is so glad that he got to celebrate his 85th birthday with so many of his friends from his life this past summer. No memorial is planned at this time.
