Brother John Allen Smith was born in Bullock County, Alabama on July 4, 1955 to the late Bessie (Allen) Smith and Mr. Isaac Holmes.

John confessed to Christ and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He later moved to Birmingham, AL where he attended Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church until God called him home.

John attended East Central Spring Manor in Bullock County. He later moved to Birmingham, AL and attended United Cerebral Palsy with is caregiver and sister, Francis Smith. John was adventurous and loved playing basketball. His caregivers, Dorothy Phillips and David “Tutu” Smith enjoyed his company in
their home. Nothing excited him more than knowing that he was loved and appreciated by his family and friends. He loved everyone.

John departed this life on April 12, 2015 at the home of his caregiver in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Allen Smith; father, Isaac Holmes; two sisters, Bessie Smith Cooper and Nettie Mae Harris; two nephews, David “Tutu” Smith and Eddie “Lee” Baker. 

John leaves to cherish his memories, three wonderful sisters, Mary Francis Smith, Birmingham, AL,  Catherine Baker, Detroit, MI and Mary Smith, Boston, MA; one brother, Willie Lee Smith, Chicago, IL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
