Her Life

Morgan's Story

May 31, 2015

Morgan came into this world an amazing soul and touched the lives of  many people in a remarkable way. Her Courage and Bravery, Kindness and Compassion, Honesty and Integrity and the  Positve Outlook she maintained despite her own challenges were inspirational to virtually all who had the opportunity to be able to get to know her. I think what made Morgan special is not that she aspired to embody these qualities but that she embodied these qualities without thought, as a natural expression of who she was, day in and day out ,through very difficult times and through very happy times. She simply lived this every day of her life.

Morgan was homeschooled (until high school) and she relished the weekly outings to the Makawao Library where she took home bundles of books to read. She participated in Camp Imua , first as a camper then as a counselor and Assistant to the Director. She was involved in Little League Baseball, Makawao Hongwanji, and Maui Acadamy of the Performing Arts (MAPA). Morgan started Seabury Hall in her freshman year of high school. She emersed herself in everything possible, and graduated with honors and a full scholorship to Scripps College.

Hoping for increased mobility, and a better quality of life Morgan went to Boston Childrens Hospital in June of 2011 to undergo a major surgery. Sadly, major complications from the surgery began almost immediately and Morgan and her family entered into a four year unforseen chain of events requiring the family's full-time caregiving.

In August of 2014 Morgan and her family moved to Claremont, CA. so that Morgan could fullfill her dream of attending Scripps College, and for a semester she was able to, until continued medical complications forced her to take a medical leave of absence in February of 2015. Morgan passed away on May 20th.

Morgan leaves behind family and friends who love her and miss her terribly but are consoled by the knowledge that she now is free of the pain and struggle of this physical existence. We look forward to seeing her again.
