Vallarie Muriel King was born on Nov.28th, 1937 to Troy & Maebell King. She was 1 of 12 siblings. She had 4 sisters, Sue, Georgia, Vista, & Ruth. The 7 brothers are Vernon, Sherill, Virgil, Weldon, Vinson, Avery, & Everette. They were born and raised in Leicester, NC. Her father was a farmer and her mother was a homemaker. They lived in a 2 room shack back in the hills and worked hard to survive, but she had lots of good memories to share with us of her childhood. Lots of funny ones too, like tracing her feet on a piece of cardboard so she could cut her out a pair of shoes. She threaded a piece of string through them & tied them on her feet. She told of how the snow would be piled on top of them when they got up for school in the morning and how far they had to walk to school everyday. They had to get up and milk the cows before they went to school. Her lunch was usually consisted of a peanut butter biscuit. The bus would stop at a store on the way home so the kids could buy a snack or something. She said cokes were a dime and lots of times she couldnt buy one, but she wanted to. The first time she got married, I think she was 21. She married Bobby Griffith and divorced a short time later, because he didnt want to move out of his moms house, LOL. I think she married my dad in 1959 and had David in 1960. She had 3 boys, David, Barrett & Michael and 3 girls, Tammy, Joyce,& stacy. My mom and dad divorced in 1981 and she then married Matthew Nutter in 1982 and had anothe daughter, Samantha in 1982. She has 7 children, 19 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.
