Nivia Francisca Gomez
December 3, 1924 – December 21, 2020
Nivia, lovingly known as Mamá, transitioned peacefully into
the arms of Jesus on Monday December 21, 2020 in Neptune, New Jersey. Mamá was
born on Wednesday December 3, 1924 in Havana, Cuba. She was the last of her generation
of siblings to pass. Preceding her in death was her dear sister Nora Morales,
her loving parents Antonio and Luisa Morales, and her beloved brother Jorge
Morales.
Mamá’s life was one filled with service to others. Her
courage and her strength during good times and challenging times came from her unwavering
faith in God. A devout Catholic, Mamá helped with many ministries and charities
throughout her life. Daily devotions were recited along with Radio Paz each
morning before sunrise in Miami, the practiced discipline of no meat on Fridays
throughout each year, and in all things, thanks always rendered first to God.
Mamá’s heart belonged to her 2 children Nora Kirk (William)
and Anthony Gomez (Angelika), niece Maria Victoria Morales, 6 Grandchildren
Victoria Johnson, Danielle Kirk, Carmen Gomez, Cody Kirk, Karen Gomez, Jack
Kirk, and her Great Grandson Brandon Matthew Johnson, Jr.
Mamá, a true American patriot, was very proud of her citizenship and her mastering speaking the English language, which sounded
just as beautifully when she spoke, as when she sang in her native Spanish language.
Mamá was a very devoted and skilled worker, receiving recognition
in each position she had held. Her journey took her all over America where she
had never met a stranger, as she had made life-long friends worldwide. Mamá loved to travel,
especially to South America and throughout Europe. Her zest for life is echoed
through the generations of those of us who are blessed beyond measure to have been able to call her ours.
Mamá, you were the best of each of us and we love you.
