My mom, sister (Sharon Smouse, Nolan’s mom) and I were at the hospital the night my dad passed away. After we said out goodbyes and just sat with him for a while, we got in the car to come home. As soon as we exited the parking garage the song “LET IT BE” came on the radio. We all looked at each other and said “Pap is with Nolan”. Then we cried some more, but what a comfort it was for us. God was letting us know they were together. We miss them both every day and look forward to the day we are reunited

Those we Love remain with us,
for Love itself lives on.
Cherished memories never fade,
because a loved one is gone.
Those we Love can never be,
more than a thought apart.
For as long as there is a memory,
they’ll live on in our heart.
We all will grieve Nolan in our own special way. I would love to invite friends and family to share happy/funny memories, glimpses of hope, and give sorrow words.
As someone who is far away from friends and family I feel this is a great way to share and support one another.
It is a place we can all go to remember!
* My parents came to see me in Vancouver, BC and after dinner as we were walking the streets of Victoria two young boys were playing "Let it be" on a guitar and saxophone. I talk to Nolan daily and I asked him to spend their visit with us. Victoria is not a small city and it just so happened they were playing that song on that street corner as we were walking by. It was just what we needed.
